Prime Performance: Oxford MBA Students Claim Amazon Pathways Top Prize

From Oxford Saïd Business School: Team “Prime Time,” made up of MBA students from Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, has won the Amazon Pathways challenge, beating 125 teams from 13 business schools around Europe.

The Amazon Pathways challenge is a part of Amazon Operations initiatives for the Pathways Program, which is a fast-track development leadership program for MBA candidates. On the Oxford Saïd team were Vishnupriya Gupta, Kaan Karagulle, Adriana Solano, and Kara Van Scoyoc.

“We feel very grateful to have represented Saïd Business School in this prestigious competition and to have come first out of 126 teams,” Vishnupriya Gupta said. “Our camaraderie and work ethic were our biggest strengths, and we provide to be highly efficient working together, maximizing our group session time. Our team was very diverse in both geography and work experience, which helped us think creatively together, coming up with new ideas.”

The competition ran for four months, taking place over three rounds. For every round, Amazon provided the teams with a new operational challenge, and we were required to submit a document and present our solutions in front of a panel of senior leaders from the company.

Columbia Launches New Course Exploring The Business Of Sports

From Columbia Business School: Supported by Morgan Stanley’s Global Sports & Entertainment division, Columbia Business School has announced a pioneering new online course, The Business of Sports. The unique collaboration brings together leaders in the fields of sports, marketing, finance, media, and management, to provide participants with an unparalleled multi-pronged view of the global sports industry, an industry that is expected to generate more than $600 billion annually in the next few years.

The Business of Sports will take participants through the lifecycle of sports management, finance, media, marketing and investing in sports, as well as the business mechanics of the industry which includes regulation, M&A, strategy, and management. A full list of guest lecturers appears below. Participants completing the three-part course will receive a certificate from Columbia Business School.

The new program is being produced by Columbia Business School, along with Peter Price, CEO of Premiere Previews, and Robert Friedman, CEO of Bungalow Media + Entertainment and a Columbia Business School Board member. The course will be promoted widely online and is supported by the Global Sports & Entertainment division at Morgan Stanley, a specialized unit of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management dedicated to serving the distinct and sophisticated needs of professional athletes, entertainers, executives, and top industry professionals.
