In the second half of the year, you will be completing an Academy devoted to areas like Marketing, Finance, Operations, Digital Enterprises and more. Which Academy interests you the most and why? Considering that I have a goal of pursuing a career in brand management, within the consumer-packaged goods industry, I am most interested in the Consumer Marketing Academy. Through that academy, I will be able to learn the basics of building a go-to-market strategy, as well as how to utilize data and insights to ensure that a new product fits the needs of a particular consumer base. I am also passionate about the science behind why a particular demographic is drawn to a brand, and I am excited to learn more about how to use these learnings to create memorable campaigns that make a lasting impact.

At the beginning of the school year, you will be completing Me, Inc., where you will engage in reflections and exercises to build your personal brand? In one sentence, describe your personal brand and how will it add value to the classmates and future employers? As someone who has worked in technology and advertising sales for the last five years, I have become a strong networker, and I plan on utilizing this skill to add value during Me, Inc. by ensuring that all classmates feel included as well as creating thoughtful dialogues with professors and recruiters.

Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of Indiana Kelley’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? One key part of Indiana Kelley’s MBA programming that led me to pursue the full-time program was its emphasis on career opportunities in the world of marketing. Considering that I want to pursue a career in brand management, within the consumer-packaged goods industry, it was important for me to attend a program that not only has relationships with some of the top companies in that sector, but one that also has a curriculum that focuses on key skills related consumer marketing. Not only does Kelley host on-campus recruiting events, where many of these companies come directly to the school to recruit, but they also provide a wealth of opportunities to travel to other midwestern hubs for brand management opportunities — such as their Travel Week to Chicago for example.

What course, club or activity excites you the most at Indiana Kelley? I am excited to join the Toastmasters club! Public speaking has always been something that I was excited to do. Whether it was speaking at my local church, or through presenting a quarterly business review to a company’s c-suite, it was never something that I shied away from. However, I also understand that this skill acts like a muscle, and there is always an opportunity to strengthen it. So, I am excited to connect with other Kelley students to fine tune our skills and learn from each other in the process.

Looking at your recruitment, what was the moment when you realized Indiana Kelley was the right program for you? Why? One key moment that made me realize that Indiana Kelley was the right program for me would be seeing their family-oriented environment during my on-campus visit. During my recruitment process, I had the opportunity to visit a few top-ranked MBA programs and Kelley was the only school that made me not only feel wanted, but a part of a family that would look out for my well-being. Understanding that I would be moving to a brand-new city for my full-time program, it was important for me to attend a program that not only provided strong academics, but one that also had a strong sense of community. When I visited Kelley, I was immediately met with students who put their arms around me and told me that they would look out for me every step of the way. The faculty also put me in touch with alumni who were in positions that I was looking to pursue in the future, and they were the only program that was able to create a village of support for me, before I even stepped onto campus.

What has been your biggest achievement in your career? My biggest achievement in my career so far was achieving the #1 ranking within my sales organization during my time at LinkedIn. When I initially joined the organization in 2022, it was my first time being in a commission-based sales role. Initially, the adjustment to having to meet quarterly, half-year, and full fiscal year quotas was daunting to say the least. At first, I struggled to meet my marks as I was learning to manage my own book of business and build rapport with my customers, while also trying to find opportunities to drive incremental revenue. However, I leaned into my support system by asking the top selling sales representatives how to get positive results consistently, while maintaining a strong relationship with my customers. From there, I altered my daily habits, went the extra mile with my storytelling, and ultimately found success. This all led to me finishing as the #1 ranked account director during my last year at the organization.
