What excites you most about studying in Washington, DC? Washington, DC, excites me as the epicenter of global decision-making, where world-changing policies and laws are crafted. Studying in DC offers unparalleled opportunities to connect with influential leaders in public service, business, and international development, all in one vibrant hub. These connections provide a tremendous learning opportunity to become the global business leader I aspire to be.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of Georgetown McDonough’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? The Global Business Experience program was the decisive factor in my choice, as it reflects a deliberate commitment to developing global business leaders equipped to solve complex business challenges in diverse contexts, precisely the leader I aspire to become. This immersive week abroad will expose me to unique cultures, values, and perspectives, thereby enhancing my adaptability, international business acumen, and global network. All this learning is critical for driving impactful solutions in today’s interconnected world.

What course, club or activity excites you the most at Georgetown McDonough? The Georgetown Venture Fellows program excites me the most because it offers hands-on experience in becoming a successful venture capitalist, aligning perfectly with my aspiration to empower entrepreneurs. Having founded three startups and mentored over 100 young entrepreneurs in Africa over the past eight years, I have witnessed promising ideas fail due to a lack of capital. Through this one-year apprenticeship at a leading venture capital firm, I will refine my skills in deal sourcing, due diligence, and providing support to founders. This program will equip me with the expertise to drive successful startup fundraising and build a network of venture capital leaders, enabling me to support Africa’s next generation of entrepreneurs.

Georgetown McDonough programming focuses heavily on instilling a global mindset. Why is exposure to global diversity so critical to business success? Exposure to global diversity is crucial for business success, as it enables entrepreneurs to understand diverse user perspectives and craft tailored solutions for unique markets. As an entrepreneur, I have leveraged this mindset to address global challenges in innovative ways. For example, to combat sexual assault, a cause close to my heart, I founded Safebangle in Uganda. It is a bracelet that allows women in unsafe situations to send text alerts for help, addressing the reality that less than 60% of Ugandans have smartphone access.

After moving to the US, I learned that, despite similar rates of sexual assault (1 in 4 women), about 91% of Americans own smartphones. This global insight inspired me to create Kinga, a smartphone widget tailored for the US market, offering a distinct solution to the same problem. This experience highlights how a global mindset drives innovative, market-specific solutions, a core strength of Georgetown McDonough’s programming.

When you think of Georgetown University, what word comes to mind? Why? Caring. This is rooted in their primary goal of producing world leaders who serve society by educating the mind, body, and spirit. This means they deeply care about students getting the best wholesome education that will turn them into impactful business leaders and individuals in society.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Co-founding of Safebangle Technologies Limited, a personal safety technology startup based in Uganda that has so far protected more than 70 vulnerable women from sexual assault, as well as created awareness of the sexual violence problem across the world. As a son who lost the opportunity to grow up with their mother because of this issue, I have dedicated resources to creating solutions that prevent sexual assault from happening to any other loved one.

What is your long-term career goal? I want to develop an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Uganda and Africa that supports young entrepreneurs in building successful local solutions for local problems.
