What has been your favorite part of Houston so far? Why? Being born and raised in Houston, the city has always felt like home to me. I value its diversity and entrepreneurial environment. Houston’s real estate market is dynamic and relationship-driven, which creates constant opportunities to learn and build. Even with a demanding MBA schedule, Houston’s focus on initiative and perseverance aligns with how I want to develop my career.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the one key part of the Rice Jones MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? What ultimately drew me to the Rice MBA program was the strength of its community and alumni network, particularly within real estate, combined with the rigor of the academic experience. I was looking for a program that would challenge how I think, while surrounding me with people from different professional backgrounds and skillsets. Rice Business stood out as a place where different perspectives are valued and where relationships are intentionally built to extend well beyond the classroom.

Since starting the program, I have come to appreciate how demanding the coursework is in the best possible way. The classes push you to think critically, manage your time and consistently bring a high level of effort. There is a strong expectation that you show up prepared and engaged, which has reinforced my work ethic and sharpened my problem-solving skills. That balance of academic rigor and a supportive, accessible network was essential to me because it mirrors the kind of environment I’d like to be part of throughout my career.

What course, club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at Rice Jones? What I have enjoyed most about Rice Business so far is connecting with people. From getting to know my classmates and professors to having coffee chats with alumni and industry professionals, the experience has been incredibly energizing. I genuinely enjoy learning about others’ paths, asking questions, and building relationships – and Rice creates an environment where that happens naturally.

In a short amount of time, my network has expanded in meaningful ways. More importantly, those connections have turned into real conversations, shared learning, and mutual support. That sense of community has made the MBA experience enjoyable, motivating and career-enhancing.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: It was purchasing a 26-unit multifamily property at age 21 and fully self-managing the asset has been my biggest professional accomplishment. I was able to personally raise over seven figures in a very short period of time. I oversaw operations, leasing, budgeting, and capital decisions, which gave me firsthand experience in ownership. Being responsible for the outcomes sharpened my judgment and reinforced the importance of discipline and accountability.

In addition to direct ownership, I have invested as a limited partner in multifamily deals alongside experienced syndicators and operators. This exposure allowed me to learn from different ownership structures and strategies, while seeing how decisions impact investors at scale. Together, these experiences shaped my long-term commitment to real estate and value creation.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? Being elected as a first-year representative for the Rice Real Estate Association has allowed me to take an active role in strengthening the real estate community at Rice. I have enjoyed helping students connect with resources, opportunities, and conversations within the program. The club emphasizes applied learning through case competition and real-world discussions, which has made the material feel practical and relevant.

I have enjoyed helping classmates navigate recruiting and leading teams for opportunities like the ULI case competition. I also enjoy sharing my experience in real estate investing and ownership to support others who are exploring the field. Being able to contribute meaningfully while learning alongside my peers has made the experience especially rewarding.

What has been your best memory as an MBA so far? One of my best memories so far was being selected to compete in the 23rd Annual National Real Estate Challenge hosted by the University of Texas. It was rewarding to work closely with a small team and apply what we had been learning in a real-world setting. Seeing how each teammates’ unique skills came together to create an exceptional final project was especially meaningful. The experience highlighted the power of collaboration and made the MBA journey feel real.
