What is Fantasy MBA? Fantasy MBA is a rankings a game where players guess the outcome of each of the forthcoming MBA rankings. Each year players can guess the Top 10 rank order of the rankings published by U.S. News, The Financial Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, The Economist, and Forbes (which comes out every other year). There is also our own annual, composite ranking which many of our loyal readers can easily put in rank order based on an understanding or our methodology. The entire 2020 Fantasy MBA Ranking Game is now open. It concludes the week following the Poets&Quants Top 100 Ranking in November.
Grand Prize Valued At Up To $15,000: Prizes are awarded at the end of each bracket throughout the game but the Fantasy MBA Ranking Champion who scores the highest overall in the season and completes all brackets, will win a three-school consulting package valued between $7,000 – $15,000 or a cash prize of $1,000.
Bracket Prizes & Play-Worthy Swag: In each bracket, players with the five highest scores will win their choice of a Poets&Quants Hoodie or mug and the following cash value prizes: 1st Place: $100 gift card, 2nd Place: $50 gift card, and 3rd Place: $25 gift card. Players can also choose to donate their individual bracket earnings to the nonprofit of their choice. Bracket winners will be announced two business days following each publication’s ranking analysis by Poets&Quants.
Point System: There are four ways to score points in Fantasy MBA: opening points, list points, and two types of community points. Players can play in one or all rankings games (brackets). Players automatically earn 25 points for joining a bracket. Players then earn 15 points for every school that is correctly named and ranked among the Top 5 & 10 points for every school that is correctly named in the Top 6 – 10. So each bracket list is worth a total of 150 points: 25 for opening and 125 for a perfect match with the actual ranking. If a school is named, but in the wrong place on the list, no points are awarded. Players can earn bonus points for community engagement. Players will earn 2 points for each moderator-approved comment given on another player’s profile and 1 point for every comment posted by other players or game fans on their profile.
Open Brackets & Special Notes For The 2020 Game: US News is the first and active game. This bracket closes on March 16, 2020 at 12:01am. All other brackets are open now, closing dates will be set in the fall. The US News bracket winner will be named, but this year only, the grand prize winner will be the player with the highest score over these three brackets: Businessweek, The Economist, and Poets&Quants. The Financial Times and Forbes rankings will be included in 2021.
