Hello Mr. Asian Sporting Goods! Thanks for posting. Krista Nannery from mbaMission here. I’m very intrigued and also curious about your sporting band! Is it a big, well-known one? (Thinking Nike, Addidas, etc.) If so, that’s great — b-schools love those brands. Now, I only see 2 years 9 months of work experience in your profile but you are 26 so perhaps I am missing something. If you indeed only have 2 years 9 months or professional experience. the top schools are just going to be so tough given your demographic competition. But if indeed you have 4ish years of work experience, the picture looks rosier. If CBS is your top choice, please apply early admission. Your GMAT is a little lower than I’d like …

Your GMAT is a little lower than I’d like it to be so you need to pull all the levers here. I’d recommend a GMAT retake once they are back up and running. I’d love to see 740+ here. Than, combined with your great GPA, will ease your way in this process. All the best!
Hi, it’s Jennifer Jackson from Stratus Admissions. You don’t say where you’re from and living now — is it Taiwan? You’ve got great stats and good experience in the retail sector, and you can connect the dots well from the sports industry/retail to a post-MBA job in the sports industry. Make sure to explain why you need the MBA and why now, as you appear to have the low end of years of experience. Perhaps you’ve seen ways in your role you could have been more effective with the learnings from an MBA? Show how you’ll be able to make a bigger impact in the industry if you get that leadership and management experience an MBA offers. Surely you’ve gotten great analytical experience but …

Show how you’ll be able to make a bigger impact in the industry if you get that leadership and management experience an MBA offers. Surely you’ve gotten great analytical experience but still need more cross-functional experience and soft skills. I like that you’re an English tour guide — I bet you have some interesting stories from that experience! Maybe there’s a way to tell one or more of those in your applications. For example, you may have had to learn how to tailor your tour to certain types of personalities, a trait that serves you well in life. I think you have a good shot at Columbia!
