Hi Mr. Central Bank Specialist, This is Debbie Choy, GSB alum and Senior Consultant at mbaMission. I like that you have a strong academic track record (GPA, GMAT, CFA), community leadership in starting a non-profit, and robust work experience in Finance. That said, the top b-schools are typically looking for candidates with between 3-6 years of full-time work experience under their belt when they apply. Given your current tenure, I think your profile would be stronger if you wait another 1-2 years to apply. This additional time will allow you to step into increasing responsibilities, perhaps start to lead teams, or mentor new hires / interns. Showing a continued positive trajectory in your career and amassing more experience will make you a more valuable addition to …

My estimate of your chances are based on your current profile, but if you apply with more years of work experience, I think you can improve your odds. Best wishes for your application journey!
Mr. Central Bank Specialist – Thanks for posting your profile. Susan Cera here from Stratus.
Don’t be dismayed by the 5%. Stanford accepts only 6 in 100 candidates and you could have a shot if you build out your profile a bit more.
You stats are solid and hopefully you’ll be on the cusp of your holding a CFA Charter when you apply. Nobody is going to question your ability to do the work in a top program.

You are still young in your career (it appears you have just 2 years experience). I would suggest that you get some additional experience under your belt before applying. Look for ways both at work and outside to demonstrate commitment to the positive impact you want to make in the long run. While getting laptops and internet access to high school students is great, think about doing something on a grander scale. Stanford wants to see that you have already changed lives, and possibly changed organizations. If you want to change the world. they want to see the steps you have already taken.
Wishing you all the best on your journey!
