I am a scholarship graduate from a top Australian University.
I haven’t done any tests yet and have a very low GPA. How can I compensate for it? I can try scoring high on either of the tests, but will that help overlooking poor grades at first bachelor’s? My second bachelor’s is from a no-name uni, but it is a state university, I hope that will help.

Hi Mr. Certain Engineering Financial Analyst, Nice going on the energy efficiency project you’re leading. This is Debbie Choy from mbaMission and GSB alum. I like that you’re in a non-traditional industry for business school. As you put your apps together, be sure to articulate why you’re seeking an MBA – what specific skills / knowledge do you want to learn at GSB that will help you achieve your future career goals? Additionally, with your low GPA, if there were any circumstances that affected your grades, do consider explaining them in the Optional Essay. The Admissions Committee will also want to see evidence of strong academic capability to ensure that you can handle the rigorous coursework at school. So doing well on your GMAT or GRE tests will be important, and can help alleviate potential concerns they might have about your academic capability. My estimate of your odds are based on your current GMAT of 700 but if you increase your GMAT score, your chances will also improve. If you would like to discuss your profile in more detail, feel free to schedule a 1:1 consultation with us. Wishing you the best in your MBA journey!
