From a poor family, but won scholarships and worked full-time to get myself through college. (1st gen college grad | GPA 3.6 if combined with transfer but I think schools only care about GPA from the graduating institution). Raised $1M+ for my own company. Promoted 3 times in 4 years at the F500 company. Ranked top bucket performance at work.
Go back to my company full-time. COVID-19 slowed down my business progress and the biotech is still few years away from finalizing development (my biolab partner has the technical knowledge). So, pursue an MBA to learn how to commercialize biotech. Added bonus of gaining key network to further venture my company.

Hi Mr. COVID-19 Biotech, this is Kate Richardson with mbaMission. I really love your profile! Starting your own biotech on the side of a successful track record at a top company, plus some impressive community involvement, I’m not sure how you have any free time! I think MIT will like your entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to improving society. Especially in this COVID-19 environment, your perspective should be very interesting to an MBA cohort. Yes, they will “count” the GPA that is listed on your graduating institution but they will review your transcripts in detail and consider the context of being a 1st gen student too. Overall I’m not too worried about it. Now, MIT does have a pretty low acceptance rate (only about 11%) and …

Now, MIT does have a pretty low acceptance rate (only about 11%) and your GMAT is just below their 727 average, but I am hopeful that the strength of your work background will impress them. Good luck!
Mr. COVID-19 Biotech – Thanks for posting your profile. Susan Cera here from Stratus.
I’m less concerned about your stats since MIT focuses so much on the impact and contributions you have made to date when evaluating your profile. You shine in this respect! Congrats on the promotions and thank you for your ‘side’ work.
MIT Sloan has a very trickly application with such limited word count in the cover letter. Be sure to showcase the wins you have had professionally and be alert for opportunities to tell other parts of your story through short answers.
If it isn’t MIT, I’m confident that if you are able to showcase your story, you will have options when decisions come out.
Wishing you all the best on your application journey.
