I will probably be one of the youngest applicants in this application cycle for a number of schools. I will graduate from college in December with a degree in Economics and am currently simultaneously working as the regional associate head of sales for a manufacturing company based in Europe. This will turn into a full-time position on graduation.

1) Boosting regional sales for my company by 150% within 3 months of joining and solely managing a budget of ~$150,000. 2) Having moved countries 8 times in my life; so new friends, new environment, new challenges 8 times in 20 years! I am very happy with the way I’ve managed each change and overcome any difficulties in my personal life.
I want to go into Private Equity or Venture Capital Analysis. I would ideally like to be at the forefront of sourcing and funding ideas that will change the world. I have some experience in PE through past internships but would like to hone in on this space.

Hi Mr. Global Mindset, Melisa here from Status Admissions. First, congrats on graduation and then I think officially going full time with your job! Sounds like you have a really interesting opportunity in which you’ve had some nice success already while at school. As a serial mover myself, I value and understand the skills you build in multiple moves – and this is a great skill you can bring to a business school class as someone who can connect others through your experiences. However, all this said, I am unclear if you are talking about applying for schools now to start in Fall 2021? And wonder if you would consider applying for deferred programs? Deferred programs would expect you to work in your current role for 2-4 years and you would apply this Spring, but have a future seat waiting for you. There are many benefits to this – you get some experience under your belt, have more to contribute to the classroom, can leverage your couple years of work experience to solidify your goals. And, most schools do not often accept students with <1 year of work experience. Tepper being one that says <1% of their class has 0 years of experience. In addition to solid stats (which you have), the key thing I look for in a deferred candidate is strong leadership skills. Based on your non-profit CEO role and that you have been working while at school, I think you would be an interesting contender. So my suggestion would be to either apply deferred or wait a couple years and apply then. You only had Tepper listed, but referred to other schools. April 1 is Tepper’s deferred deadline! Best of luck and reach out if I can answer any other questions.
