I’m an Argentine-American with 9 years of experience as an intelligence analyst in the US Air Force. I finished my Bachelor’s while working full time and come from a low income family. I’m the first in my family to obtain a degree and would like to use my skills to advise NGOs. Lately, I have been coaching leadership to members of the South American Air Forces.

Yes, yes, yes. Go for all your target schools both in the US and across the pond. Your outstanding military service record combined with the fact that you are a first generation college student should make you a sought-after candidate. Even though you have a below average GMAT for schools such as HBS and Wharton, you have so much in your profile that appeals. Your clear leadership expertise from the Air Force, your awards, your early promotional track, your commitment to giving back to your community through coaching, and the resilience and drive evidenced in that strong GPA (achieved whilst working to put yourself through school, too) are all qualities that will make the M7 adcoms and top international programs sit up and take notice. …

There are some issues – your 9 years of experience is high, especially for the US, and some schools may want to tip you towards the executive MBA pool; this will be a bit less of a problem for you at INSEAD and IESE, where the class profile is typically a bit more experienced. But I would wholeheartedly back you to make your MBA dreams happen. I see a brilliant life story for you to share with HBS, and importantly, a whole lot more still to come with those goals. Go for it. Please click on the link below if you would like to discuss more.
