Desired outcome is to be able to leverage my newly acquired knowledge & network as well as the College’s resources to help grow my own startup. But if a dream opportunity comes along (Product Manager/Owner for an amazing project) would be keen to pick that up as well, provided there is no conflict of interest of course.

Without a GMAT score, it is very difficult to predict your odds. But you do bring a number of important things to the game that make me think NYU Stern could possibly go for this. Besides your STEM undergraduate degree and management program at IIT, I think your experience with Intel Education is a very big plus, along with your entrepreneurial mindsest as demonstrated by your two co-founded startups. It would help if those startups were funded by angels or VC firms because that would be consider external validation of their worth. The biggest issue, besides the lowish GPA and no standardized test score, is that you are competing from a vastly over-represented pool and Stern can only accept a certain number of male engineers …

The biggest issue, besides the lowish GPA and no standardized test score, is that you are competing from a vastly over-represented pool and Stern can only accept a certain number of male engineers from India. Some could have gone to IITs for their degrees, earned high marks and have 730 and up GMAT scores. So there is little doubt that you would be up against a great deal of competition for a spot in the class. For the sake of assigning odds, I am going to assume a GMAT score of 700. Good luck to you!
Hi, Mr. Jack-of-All-Trades, Julie-Anne Heafey here from mbaMission. It is truly difficult to begin to estimate your chances here, both because you don’t have a GMAT score yet (though understandable that you might not have one in the current environment) and because we don’t really know the details around your startup. The biggest issue for startup applicants (and non-affiliated consultants) is establishing credibility. With only 7 months and 2 different startups, it sounds like it will be pretty tricky to show meaty accomplishments there, so it’s probably going to come down to who’s betting on you and what you’re doing to change the industry. As John suggests, I’d look for ways to show big name investors, clients, and/or supporters if you can. …

The awards are good, but it’s hard to really assess them if we don’t know how selective or significant they are, and how/why they mattered, so establishing exclusivity and meaningfulness there will be important. With all these questions and a competitive pool, it’s very hard to give high odds at this point, so I have to keep them on the low side for now. I’m hoping you manage to achieve a great GMAT to help your case. Good luck!
