Hi, Mr. M7 Hopeful, this is Julie-Anne Heafey with mbaMission. Military applicants tend to be very popular with the adcoms for their discipline, leadership and teamwork skills. I love that you bring some special things on top of your service too – great stats, unusual study abroad and some finance achievements. (I’m curious — whatever happened to your finance plans, because you seem like you were pretty committed in undergrad?) My main concern, however, is your work experience – 2 years of work experience is pretty low for M7 schools, so make sure you are showing outsize impact in your roles. I agree about expanding your list to include a few more military-friendly names that are strong in consulting recruiting, namely Tuck, Darden and Fuqua. I’d like to know a little more about your work experience, was it all with the Army or did you have some civilian experience as well? Most military candidates have great leadership skills and from your blurb is sounds like you are no exception. Make sure you highlight this as well as the impact you have had on your teams in your essays. Think of ways to describe your …

While I would rate your chances as high, give the competitiveness of Sloan, I would suggest expanding your list just in case. Have you considered Fuqua, UVA or Tuck? Those might be good fits for you as well. Best of luck!
