Hi, it’s Nisha with mbaMission. Props to you for offsetting your GPA with a Master in Finance and a solid GRE score! That is the type of progression I love to see. Speaking of progression, you’ve made some good headway in your banking & finance career so far, and have still made time outside of work to have a significant impact as a nonprofit fundraising manager.

Just as the schools will, I’d love to understand what drives your desire to be a CIO someday – what has peaked your interest in this particular role, and what is the impact you hope to make as CIO? Additionally, what is the position that you envision yourself in after graduation (since getting to CIO will take time)? CBS is especially keen to understand the motivation behind your goals (that’s why this year, the first essay question included “…what is your DREAM job?”) so make sure to reflect fully on what drives you. Aside from that, you’ll want to explain fully why CBS is right for you based on its culture and resources within and outside the classroom, and why you feel you belong in NYC professionally and personally. I’ve worked with many candidates on CBS, and the ones that were successful made a strong case for their goals and their fit with the program.
I’d also add NYU Stern to your list since it’s also very strong in finance, along with Yale given its strengths in finance and its socially-conscious approach to business (which I think will resonate with you given how much you care for your community). I hope that helps – if you’d like to discuss further, do reach out for a free consultation. Best of luck!
