Hi Mr. Senior Consultant, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. While it was a while back, I also used my MBA to help transition from a retail/CPG consultant to an in-house position. I think consulting can provide a great foundation to build from and the experience you have had across brands will be valued. I think you’ve chosen a solid list of schools at which you will be quite competitive. Your stats are on-target, work experience is solid with progression and looks like you’ve got some nice community involvement. Based on the limited info here, I’d want to dig deeper into the leadership roles you’ve had at work or through the Trevor Project. You can think of leadership in many ways – a project, a team, …
Hi Mr. Senior Consultant, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. While it was a while back, I also used my MBA to help transition from a retail/CPG consultant to an in-house position. You can think of leadership in many ways – a project, a team, cross-functionally. Admissions is going to want to hear about your leadership experience. Also think back to any undergrad leadership you had – this will be an indication that you will be an involved student. And while your goal to brand development/marketing makes sense – where do you hope this to take you in the long term? What is driving your interest in retail? As a consultant, it will be important that you have a compelling story to stand out. And your personal drive towards retail and marketing can be some of that differentiation. Not sure how complete your school list is, but I would add Michigan Ross and NYU to your list for retail/branding and maybe even Kellogg. I think it’s important for everyone to have at least 1 or 2 reach schools in their list! Make sure to connect with ROMBA through your process as well! Wish you the best of luck through your process – reach out if I can answer any questions.
