Mr. Sir Hustle-Lot
My family was targeted in the Cultural Revolution. My great grandfather’s company still exists today as one of the largest international F&B brands in the world. My family fled to the US, and I grew up poor as an East Asian/Native Hawaiian. Had to hustle all of my life. Put myself through college, started FT at a tech company as a college junior.
Undergrad School: University of Houston-Downtown
Undergrad Major: MIS
Age: 27, Ethnicity: Asian or Indian
Extracurriculars: Executive Committee Member of a National Non-Profit Professional Organization (household name); 50-100 hours a year for last 3 years, mentoring students and supporting the student orgs. One of my proudest accomplishments in life is mentoring a student in this capacity. He worked at Academy and was looking for any career assistance. I taught him everything he needed to know to ace the consulting interview, and referred him to the global consultancy I worked at. He's since fulfilled his dream of moving to Denver to work in tech.

Length of Employment: 1 yr, 2 mos
Big Life Wins:
Joined a global tech consultancy out of undergrad. Received a 6 mo. promotion to Senior Analyst and was poached by a competitor as a consultant, hitting consultant level at 1 year out of undergrad. Have since been a top performer fulfilling SME/Lead type roles, including Analytics Lead for an O&G super’s PMO with $2b~ in its portfolio.
Post MBA Goal:
I’m now confident that I could stay in tech/tech consulting and be comfortable. However, a top MBA would allow me to chase a pipe dream of mine. M7 MBA to MBB. There, build a network, sharpen my skills, accrue capital, perhaps get experience in F&B. One day, enter the F&B industry and perhaps continue my great grandfather’s legacy.
