After a rough go in my undergraduate electrical engineering program, I have built good credentials starting with work at NASA and now Deloitte. Additionally, I obtained an MS in Quant Finance from Hopkins with a 3.9 GPA and recently scored a 750 on the GMAT. Do I have any chance at a top 10?

I married just out of college and turned around my work ethic by accomplishing an MS in a difficult program with a strong GPA. We also welcomed our son recently and are heavily involved in a foundation that seeks to help our community.
Ultimately I would like to either start my own business or lead the foundation I am currently involved with and become a more senior leader at my firm.

Hi Mr. Undergrad GPA Redemption, I love a good turnaround story! Congrats too on your newborn! This is Debbie Choy from mbaMission. I think you have a lot of strengths in your profile – it’s fantastic that you went from a 2.4 undergrad GPA to a 3.9 GPA at Johns Hopkins, plus a 750 GMAT. Nice! Nice! It also looks like your career is on a solid trajectory at NASA and now Deloitte. Schools are looking for leaders – and you are demonstrating leadership within your community. As you put your app together, one area where I would encourage you to be more specific is your career goals. Starting a business or leading a foundation or becoming a senior leader at Deloitte are three different paths. There’s no “right” or “wrong” paths, and AdCom doesn’t rank one path as “better” or “worse” than another. However, they are looking for your career goals to be *achievable* given your background. If you’d like to become a senior leader at Deloitte, company sponsorship would also be important. If you plan to start your own business, they’d be looking for past record of entrepreneurial endeavors. If you can narrow down your career goal and weave a compelling narrative, I think you’d have a good chance at Kellogg.
