About the Program

The Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s STEM MBA Program takes students a minimum of two years to complete if enrolled part-time.

The WPI MBA includes five foundation courses, two electives, and two additional required courses, which includes the pre-capstone and capstone. Additionally, students get to choose from over twenty, 3-course specialties, earning a badge in their area of choice. As implied by the name, the school reports that the majority of their students come from the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields and are like-minded in that regard.

Most of WPI’s MBA students have found themselves in managerial roles without any formal training or strong business background. WPI knows that STEM professionals have strong technical skills, but through conversations with employers, the challenges they experience working with people at different levels and functions of an organization, or from different backgrounds. This can sometimes render communication to be difficult and sometimes costly for organizations. The result is an MBA program that is geared towards STEM professionals who could benefit from training in soft skills or working on cross-functional teams. In addition, students round out their overall skillsets especially in operations, finance, marketing, and the specialty of their choice.
