The B-School is located in Newark – just a short train ride away from New York City, an epicenter of business. The flagship location in New Brunswick offers students a taste of everything — with a busy urban core that feeds out to the Raritan River, making for a tranquil and green campus atmosphere. New Jersey is on the smaller side, but it’s the 11th most populous U.S. state, with just under 9.5 million people. Students can enjoy the 130 miles of coastline or the 72 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Impressively, in 2022, more than a third – 33 of the 91 MBAs in the rankings experienced a double-digit downturn, yet Rutgers was one of the remarkable seven who swam against the strong current of downturns in rankings, up 17 places to finish at 69th. This year, the B-School has climbed even higher to land No. 57. Rutgers doesn’t stop impressing here. According to the Financial Times 2022 Global MBA Rankings survey, Rutgers’ Full-Time MBA alumni averaged a 166% salary increase three years after graduation, ranking No. 1 among public business schools in the U.S. for salary percentage increase. Critical thinking, problem solving, leadership, teamwork and technical knowledge are woven into the MBA experience, making theoretical knowledge relatable and practical from the start. To be accepted to the program, prospective MBAs have to have 2 years of work experience. The average age is 28 and begins in the fall, with an annual enrollment of about 50-70 students. The MBA is STEM designated, with core courses designed to give MBAs a solid business foundation. Students can customize their experience by selecting from concentrations in Analytics & Information Management, Customized Healthcare, Finance, Global Business, Marketing, Marketing Research Insights & Analytics, Pharmaceutical Management, Real Estate, Strategy & Leadership, Supply Chain Management, Technology Commercialization, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Rutgers also offers a part-time MBA, best for those working and looking to advance their career with their current employer or in their current industry, an EMBA, and an MBA in Accounting. The school’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (CUEED) is the first center of its kind in the nation to integrate scholarly works with private capital, government, and nonprofit sectors to develop resources in the city of Newark and bring renewed economic growth and vitality through urban entrepreneurship. All in all, internships, MBA Team Consulting courses, case competitions, executive mentoring, and additional real-world experiences prepare students for business in the real world. Rutgers MBAs have options to attend global excursions to places like China, Costa Rica, India, France, and Germany, as well as exchange programs with well-regarded European graduate schools. “Building a strong public business school takes many years and requires strong teamwork. One of the most important benefits of earning a business degree in today’s society is earning potential,” says Lei Lei, professor and dean of Rutgers Business School on Rutgers’ site.
