The Sykes MBA: What You Need To Know

With one of the largest and most established MBA programs in Florida, the John H. Sykes College of Business at the University of Tampa aims to develop strategic thinkers who will add value to organizations and society. 

Sykes’ full-time MBA program, ranked 81 on Bloomberg Businessweek’s ranking of the best U.S. Business schools of 2019-2020, focuses on creating innovative leaders. Their use of high-tech facilities allows students to access their potential through hands-on and integrative coursework. Students are able to manage investments in The Huizenga Family Foundation Trading Center and receive training in SAP and enterprise systems. 

Sykes appeals to every type of student by providing four MBA format options. The full-time/day program can be completed within 12 months with a 40 credit hour minimum. The part-time/ evening program takes place once a week from 6 to 9:50 p.m. and can be completed in two years. The Professional MBA program follows a flexible evening format and is for those with at least five years of work experience. The Executive MBA program is a cohort-based program designed for the professional with at least seven years of work experience. It can be completed within 21 months. 

Students complete a set of core courses concentrating on important business concepts like ethics and social responsibility, personal communication, innovation, critical thinking, and economic sustainability. They are also able to choose from eight concentrations in: Business Analytics, Cybersecurity, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Information Systems Management, International Business, Marketing, and Nonprofit Management.
