University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business

The University of Houston offers an MBA out of the Bauer College of Business where students will get many opportunities to practice business, management, and investing firsthand. The B-School is set in Houston, which is known for being one of the top energy hubs in the United States.

The first year in the program is built around classes during the day with the cohort, but the second year can be completed with evening classes. The program spans 22 months and 48 credit hours. The Bauer MBA is made up of two types of courses: core and electives. The core makes up 22.5 credits and is designed to give students a solid business foundation. Electives account for 25.5 credits and give students a chance to specialize in specific areas of business.

All MBAs meet with their academic advisor and Career Counselor during the first semester to design a plan that sets them up for future success.

The B-school has a new capstone course called the Pinnacle Project, where all Full-Time MBA students apply what they have learned to a multidisciplinary experiential project, developing skills in the context of real-world applications.

Outside of the required curriculum, students are encouraged to partake in co-curricular opportunities like the private Cougar Investment Fund, the Cougar Venture Fund, RED Labs (the University of Houston’s very own startup accelerator and technology entrepreneurship program), and SURE (The Stimulating Urban Renewal through Entrepreneurship).
