Matt CapleĀ

MIT, Sloan School of ManagementĀ

Describe yourself in 15 words or less:Ā A late bloomer! Iā€™m 31, a few years older than the average MBA candidate.

Hometown:Ā Boston, MA

Fun Fact About Yourself:Ā Iā€™ve lived in Boston my entire life!

Undergraduate School and Major:Ā Tufts University, Economics

Employers and Job Titles Since Graduation:

Ministry of Supply ā€“ Business Development Manager

Credit Suisse ā€“ Vice President

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far:Ā Being accepted toĀ Sloan!

Looking back on your experience, whatĀ one piece ofĀ advice would you give to future business school applicants?Ā Ā The MBA application process is a marathon, not a sprint! Make the appropriate time to connect with past and current studentsĀ atĀ the school(s) you have an interest inĀ so as toĀ gain a feel for the cultureĀ of theĀ community youā€™re joining.

WhatĀ was the key factor thatĀ led you to choose this program for your full-time MBAĀ and why was it so important to you?Ā I was incredibly fortunate to enjoy my timeĀ atĀ Credit Suisse and Ministry of Supply. As such,Ā I was notĀ convinced leaving work to pursue a full-time MBA program was right for me.Ā In meeting withĀ SloaniesĀ beforeĀ and during the application process, I found the broader MIT community sharedĀ my same values.Ā More than anything else, this solidified my desire to attend and is precisely why Iā€™m so grateful to be accepted.

What wouldĀ success look like to you after your first yearĀ of business school?Ā At Sloan, I plan to join theĀ financeĀ track, but haveĀ number of differentĀ interestsĀ I look forwardĀ toĀ exploring.Ā AfterĀ my first year at Sloan,Ā I hope to haveĀ rounded out my foundationalĀ knowledge via theĀ core semester,Ā started to pursue a Healthcare Certificate,Ā andĀ participated inĀ theĀ DesignĀ Club, Sports and Analytics Conference, andĀ Digital Currency Initiative.Ā Itā€™s going to be difficult not to spread myself too thin!Ā Iā€™mĀ excited toĀ get on campusĀ and looking forward to meeting my classmates.
