Description: Why do the best intentions in the social sector often fail to yield results? According to Buluswar, such failures stem from a lack of strategic thinking. In this course, Buluswar will focus on helping students formulate and implement practical ideas that get results. In the process, students will learn how to increase their social enterprise’s “impact and reach” by “design(ing) and implement(ing) effective programs that are far-reaching, replicable, and scalable.” In particular, students will develop business plans and design metrics for measuring success. In addition, they will study frameworks and tools being used to develop sustainable solutions in sectors like education, health, and the digital divide. The course will consist of video lectures, articles, class discussions and individual and group projects.
