Meet Wharton’s MBA Class Of 2019

Rachel Cohen

The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania

Describe yourself in 15 words or less:  I am a management consultant, entrepreneur, travel hacker, and run a popular blog about “Adulting” called Not Winging It: Adulting for the Rest of Us

Hometown: Abington, PA

Fun Fact About Yourself:  I founded an organization called Girl Social that produces lesbian social events including the wildly popular Lezzertag (and others such as LezPong and LezSwim) in New York City and Los Angeles.

Undergraduate School and Major:  University of Pennsylvania, Biology

Employers and Job Titles Since Graduation:

Prudential Financial – Management Consultant

Accenture – Senior Analyst

Accenture – Business Analyst

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Founded an award winning nonprofit, Hand2Paw, which teaches homeless young adults to pursue jobs in animal shelters. Hand2Paw has impacted the lives of over 10,000 animals and over 1,000 homeless youth.

Looking back on your experience, what one piece of advice would you give to future business school applicants?  My biggest suggestion is to live frugally and save every penny you can for tuition because MBA tuition and graduate student loan interest rates are breathtaking.

What was the key factor that led you to choose this program for your full-time MBA and why was it so important to you?   I selected Wharton because the students I met seemed genuinely thrilled to be there. I was impressed by the ubiquitous happiness and vibrancy.

What would success look like to you after your first year of business school?

I will consider the first year a success if I have:

    • Developed durable friendships.
    • Found an internship where I can solve interesting business problems with a fun and supportive team.
