Meet Wharton’s MBA Class Of 2019

Alex Daniels

The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania

University of Pennsylvania Law School

Describe yourself in 15 words or less: Greek Mom + New Yorker Dad = a surfing JD/MBA Californian. Only in America.

Hometown: Short Hills, NJ

Fun Fact About Yourself:  Been to 22 National Parks and counting. (Best one: Arches because that’s where I proposed to my wife.)

Undergraduate School and Major: Duke University, Environmental Policy & Science

Employers and Job Titles Since Graduation: Google: (titles in chronological order) AdWords Sales Strategist, Product Solutions Specialist, Americas Program Manager, Americas Lead Financial Analyst

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far:  Moving to Google’s Latin America HQ in Buenos Aires and working with much more senior Directors and VPs.

Looking back on your experience, what one piece of advice would you give to future business school applicants?  BE YOURSELF – don’t try to pretend you’re something you’re not or that you’re interested in something you don’t care about.  Authenticity shines (plus it’s much easier to control).

What was the key factor that led you to choose this program for your full-time MBA and why was it so important to you? The resources. I feel as though Wharton has so much to offer that if I can’t find someone, something, or some way to help me do the things I want to do, then I’m just not looking.

What would success look like to you after your first year of business school?  I’ve made some (hopefully) lifelong friends, I finally understand all the acronyms in the Wall Street Journal, and I’ve dived deep into Wharton’s entrepreneurial world.
