Working together with colleagues from all around the Asia-Pacific region to prepare for the big event and witnessing the conversations between the leaders of all the Asia-Pacific economies, I was impressed with the extraordinary economic energy of the region and the contribution that China has made and could continue to make in it. What is the biggest appeal of earning an MBA in China? Knowing how to do business in the modern world can be important. But knowing how to do business in modern China is even more crucial. The rapidly-emerging and second-largest economy in the world is something that any business elite cannot possibly ignore regardless of what he or she is doing. It is also true that China is becoming increasingly open and more interconnected with the world of today, which means the value of an MBA in China is never only about exploring the sole country, but rather more about understanding how the world is going to benefit from China’s growth in the coming years (and vice versa). What quality best describes your MBA classmates and why? Change-seeking. Every time I look around at my peers, I can see that they are so different from each other, in terms of cultural backgrounds, past experiences and personal inspirations. However, one thing in common amongst them is they have all been so successful in the past. In spite of that, they are never easily satisfied and always looking for more changes to make. When I became aware of that, I was absolutely sure that I had come to the right place because I’m just like them. Starting from CEIBS, we are confident that we will be able to make some changes – changes to ourselves, society and the world, all in a better way and towards an inspiring future. Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of the MBA curriculum or activities that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? I would say it’s the excellent faculty that I value just as much as the outstanding classmates and alumni. Something probably unique about the professors at CEIBS is that they are either Chinese professors with many years of overseas experience or international professors with as many years in China. In both cases, they bring world-class expertise, of course. From this, you might get a clearer idea of the unparalleled positioning of CEIBS, which is “China Depth, Global Breadth”. In addition, from what I’ve had in the classrooms, I’m also convinced that the professors here are not only teaching with what they have read or heard, but (more importantly) with what they’ve personally been through and what they’ve been able to truly understand in their own lives. What other MBA programs did you apply to? There wasn’t another. CEIBS was the only one and fortunately I got it right. What do you see yourself doing ten years from now? Although anything in particular is too hard to foresee ten years from now, I strongly believe I will be making my contributions to a better-connected world for people to live in.
