The program is committed to the idea of “China Depth, Global Breadth.” The campus is based in Shanghai, once a fishing village called “Shen.” Shanghai is famous for its art-deco style and is known as the “magic city” because of how it has attracted so many people – a population of 26.3 million – making it China’s largest city and the third most populated city in the world. Historically, Shanghai was one of the first cities in China to open to Western trade and has one of the world’s largest seaports and the world’s longest metro system. Many consider it the birthplace of modern China, home to China’s industrial and commercial epicenter – making it a great place to kick off or change careers and network with global employers. The full-time MBA program is taught in either a 12- or 16-month format. The program currently has 122 students enrolled and requires 60 credits – 32 of which are core and 28 of which are electives. The program is designed to lay a solid foundation while providing the flexibility to suit individual interests and career ambitions. Students can choose to focus on general business management, or select one of four concentrations in Finance, Marketing, Digital Business or Strategy. As part of the international experience requirements, CEIBS MBAs must either partake in the B-School’s exchange program with one of 40+ partner schools including Wharton, INSEAD, LBS or NYU Stern, and/or take an overseas elective course. The faculty base is largely international, with approximately a third originating from Europe, a third from the USA and a third from China. CEIBS also has China’s largest business school alumni network with over 28,000 alumni globally. Unique to the program is the in-house China Discovery elective series offered each year, designed to deepen students’ understanding of China’s business environment and offers an opportunity to analyze perspectives on China’s history. Beyond required academics, students enjoy getting involved with a variety of professional, athletic and social clubs. “Unlike other top business schools, which have separate clubs for different areas of finance, CEIBS has just one, and it is by far the largest professional club on campus. And, as my classmates will attest, no matter how much you dislike finance, you have to understand the basics in order to graduate,” says Neil Flynn, past president of the Finance & investment Club, Class of 2021. In a global and constantly changing environment, CEIBS recognizes that business leaders must be equipped with broad skills capable of dealing with complexity and change. The school teaches MBAs to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and apply their knowledge within company’s post-graduation. The results of the program are impressive, with 93.8% of the class employed within 3 months of graduation. Post-MBA, 82.7% of MBAs switched industries or functions.
