4th Annual Poets&Quants Online MBA Ranking Goes Live Monday

For the fourth time, Poets&Quants will be publishing its annual ranking of online MBA rankings on Monday, November 9. Some 47 schools will be ranked this year — more than any before. As we announced a few days ago, the increase in participating schools has led to elevated competition within the ranking, leading to four schools pushing their way into the top 10. Two of those schools — the University of Washington Foster School of Business and Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business — are participating in the ranking for the first time. Both have launched their programs within the past three years.

As a reminder, our ranking is based on surveys that go out to schools and alumni graduating in the 2019-2020 academic year. Surveys were conducted between May and October of this year. One-third of the ranking is based on admissions standards from the school survey. The remaining two-thirds are based entirely on the alumni survey.

All three areas — admissions standards, academic experience, and career outcomes — are weighted equally.

The ranking was launched in early 2018 with input from administrators and deans at many of the participating schools. Each year, Poets&Quants allows all participating and invited schools to offer feedback on its surveys and methodology. After evaluation and discussion among Poets&Quants staff members based on the feedback, changes to surveys and methodology are sometimes made. The entire process leads to a massive trove of alumni and school data not available anywhere else. In addition to the rankings, Poets&Quants will also publish the data in articles also on November 9 or soon after.
