UVA McIntire’s M.S. in Accounting is a full-time, 9-month, STEM-designated program for accounting majors or those with significant accounting coursework. Students gain deeper knowledge and expertise by specializing in one of two tracks – Financial Reporting & Assurance or Tax Consulting. Students learn to use accounting, analytics, and communication to solve problems, present information to clients clearly and compellingly, and be a leader in the field. This program is ideal for those planning to fulfill the 150-hour CPA licensure requirement.

October 5, 2023; November 5, 2023; January 5, 2024; March 5, 2024; May 5, 2024* *After May 5, 2024, applications will be considered on a space-available rolling basis through the final submission deadline of June 30, 2024.
The M.S. in Accounting program is 30-credit hours and full-time on Grounds in Charlottesville, VA. Financial Reporting & Assurance Track students take four required courses and two electives during the fall semester. Students in this track take three required courses and additional electives during the spring. Students in the Tax Consulting Track take five required courses and one elective in the fall. In the spring semester, students take three required courses and additional electives. Both tracks offer courses that align with CPA preparation.
International Accounting Experience
The unique Global Commerce Immersion (GCI) elective courses include on-campus seminars and a study-abroad component during either the January term or spring break. GCI courses can be topic-specific (e.g., finance or consumer behavior and marketing) or practical (e.g., a consulting project analyzing a specific company’s business problems and opportunities).
