About the Program
The University of Virginia’s M.S. in Accounting is a nine-month program designed for accounting majors or those with significant accounting coursework. Students gain deeper knowledge and expertise by specializing in one of two tracks – Financial Reporting & Assurance or Tax Consulting. Students learn to use accounting, analytics, and communication to solve problems, present information to clients in a clear and compelling way, and be a leader in their firm and in the field. The program was ranked #2 “Top 25 Master’s Rankings, Schools with fewer than 17 Full-Time Accounting Faculty” by Public Accounting Report in 2017 and #13 “First-Time CPA Pass Rate” by NASBA Report in 2018.
You are not required to submit a GMAT or GRE exam score as part of your application. If you voluntarily provide an exam score, it will be considered in evaluating your application for admission. The admissions committee reserves the right to ask for additional information, including, but not limited to, a test score before rendering a decision.

Program Format and Schedule
The M.S. in Accounting is nine months long and 30 credit hours. The program is full-time and in-person at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. The program offers a flexible curriculum with an emphasis on developing the skills necessary for success in today’s accounting profession including data mining and analytics, cybersecurity, and communication. McIntire places an emphasis on collaboration through case discussions, team-based projects, and executive presentations. Students also have the opportunity to study abroad over winter or spring break through a global commerce immersion course.

The M.S. in the Management of Information Technology (M.S. in MIT) Program is for early- to mid-career professionals seeking to advance their careers by bettering their understanding of the business-IT nexus; the M.S. in Business Analytics (MSBA), delivered in partnership with UVA’s Darden School of Business, provides expert preparation in the analytical, technical, and leadership skills necessary for transforming data sets into strategic decisions.
