Today, using web-based learning programs, Lehigh’s Office of Distance Education offers graduate-level programs in business, engineering, science, and interdisciplinary studies. Lehigh’s commitment to education expands beyond the traditional classroom to create a vibrant community of online learners across the globe. Lehigh’s MBA is part-time, online FLEX MBA program, designed for working professionals, offers courses through the university’s live, online platform ClassroomLIVE. The integrated, web-based learning environment delivers programs in real-time from classrooms on Lehigh’s campus synchronously to students in their homes, offices, or hotel rooms when traveling. Students interact live with professors and other students during the class as it’s actually taking place on campus. “This virtual technology platform delivery mode continues to result in a WIN-WIN for the busy, working professional,” said Associate Dean Yao. The program is flexible when compared to traditional on-campus-only MBA programs because students can seamlessly attend classes either on campus or online, at any time throughout the program. “Lehigh’s ClassroomLIVE technology was pretty unique. Half the class was present, half the class was remote. I was really shocked (by) how interactive it was. You can see and hear everyone and they can see and hear you just as if we were all in the classroom together. If you have questions, it’s easy to communicate and interrupt. I was really shocked how fluid it was,” said Kerry Mickley MBA ’19, Director Industrial Power Units & Manifolds, North America, Bosch Rexroth. “I was pleasantly surprised by how integrated the online learning environment was with ClassroomLIVE. We even did live breakout sessions during class, which paired online students with students present in the classroom and we always had thought-provoking discussions and output,” said Piaget Francois Shouldice MBA ’19, Regulatory Affairs Senior Specialist, Merck & Co. The FLEX MBA is a 36-credit program. The core is comprised of 21 credits; the remaining 15 credits are electives, from which a student may choose to specialize in one of 7 concentration areas or simply pursue the general MBA. The program’s newest concentration, Business Analytics, launched in 2019. It’s a 12-credit program specifically designed to give students exposure to business data collection, storage and retrieval, predictive models, and the applications for improved decision making in today’s modern, data-rich organizations. This concentration can be completed on-campus or via ClassroomLIVE. “The rapid advancement in information technology has created a data-rich environment for organizations in all sectors. How to collect data, how to evaluate data collection methods and sources, and how to use the data to gain business insights and improve decision making are the challenges faced by today’s intuitive managers,” said Georgette Chapman Phillips, Kevin L. and Lisa A. Clayton Dean, Lehigh University College of Business.
