ESSEC BUSINESS SCHOOL Course: Strategic Business Analytics Specialization Offered through: Coursera Level: Advanced, designed for those already in the industry with background in statistics, R or another programming language Duration: 5 months, with 2 hours of coursework per week ESSEC, an international business school headquarter in Paris, France, designed this course for business analysts and data scientists who want to apply their skills to business challenges. “You’ll engage in hands-on case studies in real business contexts: examples include predicting and forecasting events, statistical customer segmentation, and calculating customer scores and lifetime value. We’ll also teach you how to take these analyses and effectively present them to stakeholders so your business can take action,” says the course description. The capstone project is designed in partnership with Accenture, and students will apply what they’ve learned to a wide range of industries including media, communications and more. BABSON COLLEGE Course: Business Analytics Fundamentals Offered through: edX Level: Beginner Duration: 4 weeks, with 4 to 6 hours of coursework per week Babson College’s certification offers a foundational understanding along with practical skills in business analytics. No prior background is required, but a working knowledge of Excel is suggested. Students will get introductory lessons in recognizing, interpreting and summarizing data to offer insights to your business problems. They’ll also learn basic probability consents and how to build basic Excel models for revenue, cost and profit. “This course provides a hands-on approach to anyone looking for better handle on business analytics,” reads the course description. “It imparts foundational and practical skills and knowledge to analyze and understand data, present your findings effectively and draw meaningful conclusions about data.
