What achievement are you most proud of in your professional career? I am most proud of my ability to learn and grow business across 4 industries and drive transformations.
Why did you choose this school’s online MBA program? The Jack Welch MBA program is rooted in the Jack Welch way of running a business. As a GE alum of 28 years, I admired Jack’s leadership style and principles. I knew that enrolling at the Jack Welch Management Institute would enhance the skills I had already acquired.
What was your favorite part of being in an online MBA program? The convenience of a 100% online program was critical as a busy professional. But that convenience isn’t at the expense of the curriculum. The Jack Welch MBA continually challenges its students to learn and apply.
What was the most surprising thing about an online learning environment? I was very impressed with the quality of the professors at the Jack Welch Management Institute. They were supportive yet challenging throughout my online education journey.
How did your online experience compare with your in-the-classroom experience as an undergraduate student? The Jack Welch online experience was far better and less intimidating than my in-the-classroom experience. The JWMI professors were very dedicated to my and my fellow students’ learnings. They quickly responded to questions, concerns, and my weekly discussion question posts.
What is your best piece of advice to an applicant for thriving in an online MBA program?
There are three pieces of advice I have for a JWMI applicant:
1. Take advantage of the JWMI network. The community of students and alumni is powerful and active. Connect with them on LinkedIn and build out your network.
2. Your professors are excellent and approachable. You should not hesitate to ask questions if you aren’t clear on something.
3.Take advantage of the video conference discussions and be present and engaged to gain the most from the program.
What would you change about an online MBA Program? Nothing. I wish I had enrolled sooner.
How has your online education helped you in your current job? The Jack Welch MBA program absolutely helped me in my new role as CMO of Girl Scouts, USA, and determining my first board of director presentation.
Did you earn a promotion while in the program or immediately after graduation? While in the program, I did earn a promotion.
Did you earn a raise during the online MBA program? Yes, 20%
