2022 MBA Stories: A School-By-School Collection Of News & Student Profiles by: Jeff Schmitt on January 02, 2023 | 3,888 Views January 2, 2023 Copy Link Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Email Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp Share on Reddit Call 2022 a return to normal, a time to settle down and plot out the future. This year, MBA students ditched the masks and stopped worrying about being shuttled to online classes. Students again held their traditional events, be it Diwali celebrations or football tailgates. Despite a world connected by Slack, Zoom, and Facebook, there was one lesson absorbed by MBAs like no other: Nothing beats face-to-face communication. Beneath the calm surface, 2022 was roiled by change. Long-time business school deans resigned at Cornell, Indiana, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Washington University. And replacements were hired at Michigan, Minnesota, Oxford, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M. These comings-and-goings extended to the admissions offices, where leaders from Stanford, Harvard, and Michigan tendered their resignations. There were new online and part-time programs launched out of Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, Emory, Georgetown, and Wharton – and new campuses christened at Chicago Booth and Columbia too. And let’s just say alumni were particularly generous at Cornell, Dartmouth, Emory, US, and Virginia this year. A LOOK BACK AT 2022 We even saw a Stanford MBA – Rishi Sunak – ascend to being the British Prime Minister…though hardly anyone remembers the guy. This year, Poes&Quants covered it all. We interviewed top deans, faculty, and administrations – not to mention the students who beat the odds and the alumni who made an impact. Our featured experts delivered proven strategies for business school applications and interviews, while our MBA student columnists covered everything from case competitions and class projects to overseas treks and exchanges. This year, P&Q continued its in-depth coverage of class profiles and jobs reports. We highlighted top graduates by profiling the “Best & Brightest MBAs” and “MBAs To Watch” – along with emerging faculty through our “40 Under 40 Series.” Each year, we cover the new courses and faculty at the top business schools. Plus, we recognize the top student entrepreneurs in our “Disruptive MBA Startups” series. And that doesn’t count our extended coverage involving Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Earth Day. Wondering what you might have missed in 2022? We got you covered with a school-by-school story listing (plus links to iconic features like “10 Business Schools To Watch”). Here are some MBA stories that can give you an edge going into 2023.
