What led you to pursue an MBA at this point in your career?
With an undergraduate degree in chemistry, I wanted to pursue an MBA to obtain the necessary business knowledge I was lacking. I need this MBA experience to reach future career goals, such as creating value for health care organizations through financial growth and operational efficiency. I also wanted to purse an MBA to learn from other individuals with varied backgrounds.

What word best describes the TCU MBA students and alumni you’ve met so far?
Inspiring. I love learning about my peers’ professional accomplishments at this point in their careers, as well as seeing where a TCU MBA can take you based on the success of alumni.

Aside from classmates, what was the key part of TCU’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you?
I loved how individualized the program is at TCU. The cohort size is perfect and allows me to be known by my peers, my professors and the Neeley staff. Throughout the entire admissions process I felt valued; from calls with the recruiting team, to the intentionality on my interview day, to communication leading up to orientation from student success. From the beginning, TCU has provided all the necessary tools for success.

What is your favorite course as an MBA and/or favorite professor and why?
I have really enjoyed Business Analytics with Dr. David Weltman. He has a passion for teaching that is unmatched. Dr. Weltman provides the class with excellent examples and makes refining our analytic modeling skills fun. I can’t wait to see how I will be able to utilize all that I have learned in my future career, especially with how much data there is in health care.

What club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at TCU?
I am a member of the Corporate Finance/Capital Markets Club and the Consulting Club. Both organizations held bootcamps early in the semester where we were able to talk to second-year MBA students and gain insight into each industry from their summer internships. Also, both clubs held panels with former alumni that currently work in their respective industries, allowing us to make valuable networking connections in our first few weeks as an MBA student.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far?
I have made valuable connections in both the health care industry and in the DFW area. I have already learned skills that will help me transform into a better manager and peer after school. I did pretty well in my classes, too.

What surprised you the most about business school?
As someone with an undergraduate degree in a field outside of the business world and who has been out of school for four years, I was surprised how much I really enjoyed going back to class.

What are the top two items on your professional bucket list post your MBA?
1. Land a job in an industry I love, while providing for my family.
2. I would love to pay it forward and mentor future MBA students, just like the many people that have helped me.
