Emory Goizueta Dean: The Unprecedented Advantages In Business Education In 2024

Emory University’s Goizueta Business School Dean Gareth James: “Business should be an engine for moving society forward.”

The new year offers a unique opportunity to reflect, recenter, and offer gratitude. At Goizueta, we have made huge strides in the past year with a core focus on expanding access and opportunity for our students.

This year, we have expanded existing programs and launched new programs to create pathways for career success for non-traditional business students. This includes an AI in Business track for the MS in Business Analytics program and online format for our Evening MBA. In 2024, we are proud to welcome our very first cohort of students to our Master in Management program, designed for recent graduates with liberal arts and sciences backgrounds, and the Master in Business for Veterans program, which supports active duty military and veterans as they transition to civilian careers in business.

This year, we resolve to build on our strong foundation, supporting students, faculty, staff, and alumni to excel as principled leaders positively influencing business and society. Whether our students are studying global markets abroad, mastering FinTech in a real-time finance lab, securing capital funding for new ventures, influencing systemic change in case competitions, or supporting faculty research that propels business in new directions, we will be there and ready to meet their needs.

With artificial intelligence and machine learning revolutionizing the way we do business, we are committed to preparing students for the future—across industries and beyond geographic borders. New technology offers unprecedented advantages—in commerce, medicine, and our everyday lives, however, the development of AI also is fraught with challenges. It’s our imperative to develop leaders who understand and influence the ethics of AI.

And finally, Goizueta has always been a hub for positive action and dynamic thinking. From students to faculty and staff to alumni, we challenge our community to answer the calls of business and society, focusing on both profitability and problem-solving, people and planet. Business should be an engine for moving society forward.

Here’s to a wonderful 2024 full of growth, opportunity, and renewed commitment to wielding business to build a better world.
