Academic Rep (2022-2023): I was the academic representative of my stream (class of 80 people during the first year of the MBA). For this role, I was elected by my peers and I represented their interests with the program office during weekly meetings. Women’s Touch Rugby Exco (2022-2023): As part of the “Alumni, Mentorship and Careers” team of the club, my role was to help current club members to navigate recruitment season and promote networking with LBS Alumni. Which academic or extracurricular achievement are you most proud of during business school? Being part of the Dean’s List. I am very proud of this because moving to a new country, going back to student life, but keeping up with the rhythm of the MBA social life was hard for me at the beginning. I decided to focus on extracurricular activities and responsibilities outside academics, as well as recruitment. It could have been very easy for me to lose focus on the academic part of the MBA, so receiving this recognition made me very proud as I was able to achieve my personal and professional goals while also achieving a good academic performance. What achievement are you most proud of in your professional career? At Hiraoka, I created the first-ever CRM and data analytics area. This meant I had to recruit and train the team, design all the area objectives and strategic roadmaps and work thoroughly with the wider organization to help the company transition into a more data-driven and customer-centric approach. I am very proud of this because I managed to have a long-lasting impact in the organization and I learnt a lot about change management. Why did you choose this business school? There are many reasons why I chose LBS and one of them was diversity. I believe that LBS not only focuses on selecting a very multicultural student body, but also focuses on creating the spaces where they can interact and learn from each other in different settings – not only in classrooms, but also in networking events and informal social activities. This was very important for me because I knew that this would be a life-changing experience and I was very excited to learn from peers from different parts of the world. I believe that growth comes from outside of one’s comfort zone and I felt that being exposed to people with different backgrounds to me was a great way to achieve it. Who was your favorite MBA professor? Andrea Galeotti, Professor of Economics. He made an extra effort to make the class dynamic, entertaining and engaging, with interesting discussions, team dynamics, and games. He smiled very often and also provided videos and lots of content to make sure that students had all the tools required for their learning. What was your favorite course as an MBA? Negotiations and Bargaining. This was my favorite because it was very practical, and I got to negotiate with my peers in different settings and to represent many different points of view that did not necessarily match my own. That exercise allowed me to learn tangible knowledge that I was quickly able to apply in my professional and personal life. What was your favorite MBA event or tradition at your business school? Tattoo is a festival organized by the Student Association annually where students can experience all the diversity that characterizes LBS. At this event, there is food and drink from the different countries students come from, a talent show from the regional clubs, LBS bands and musical competitions, and several activities that allow students to showcase their culture and learn from others. Looking back over your MBA experience, what is the one thing you’d do differently and why? I would have set my priorities straight from the first day and I would have managed better the social events that occurred during the first few months. I feel that at the beginning of the MBA, we were all trying to attend all events and be everywhere because there was a fear of missing out. This was impossible as there were so many events, many of which happened at the same time in different places. I learnt to prioritize better during the MBA, but I wish I had done it earlier so the first few months were less stressful. What is the biggest myth about your school? Some people think that LBS is just focused on finance and that every student then goes to work finance or consulting. My experience was different as I have seen that LBS provides support and resources for other industries such as tech, retail and entrepreneurship and I have lots of peers who are achieving their goals in these career paths. What did you love most about your business school’s town? I love the many entertainment options that it offers: from amazing theatres to beautiful parks. I also value that it is very well connected, with multiple airports that offer affordable flights. This has allowed me to explore other countries, such as Iceland, Egypt and South Africa. What surprised you the most about business school? The extent of personal growth that I have experienced due to exposure to different cultures. I had heard people sharing their personal growth experiences, but I did not expect it to be so profound. I feel like a very different person to the one I was before my MBA. Which MBA classmate do you most admire? Saumya Sudhir. I admire her because she is a very well-rounded person. She is caring, generous and empathic but also very intelligent, responsible and a great professional. One example of her work is that she is the Student Association’s Senior Marketing Officer and she has completely changed the image of the organization and has helped to visualize what the SA does and all the great impact it has on the student body. Apart from that, she is a very interesting and nice person to talk to and she is never scared to say what she thinks or to stand up for her beliefs. What are the top two items on your professional bucket list? 1. Join a big tech company full time in a customer centric role where I can lead innovative change management initiatives. 2. In the long term (15+ years), I want to explore the entrepreneurship path and fund a customer-centric start-up. What made Daniella such an invaluable addition to the Class of 2024? “Daniella has been a wonderful asset to the class of MBA2024. Without exception, she has demonstrated her commitment to her own growth, as well as constantly thinking about how she can enhance the experience of those around her. At LBS, we ask all students to think about how they can bring our four recognized behaviours – rigour, curiosity, openness, inspiration – into their experience. In Daniella, I have seen someone committed to, and successful across, all four areas. As an elected Academic Rep in year 1, Daniella quickly showed her ability to manage the feedback and questions of the 80 peers in her stream, using her curious nature to listen and then knowing how to bring genuine, representative concerns to us in a constructive and helpful way – while also knowing how to manage the expectations of her classmates. She has a calm and professional manner at all times, which has allowed her to be successful in making and effecting change. This rigorous approach has also been seen in Daniella’s own excellent academic success. In her role as Student Ambassador and then Incoming Student Officer for the Student Association, Daniella’s genuine interest in other people has been a true strength. Her willingness to be open and share her time and expertise with others has been exemplary – always doing so happily and inspiring those around her, and those who will follow in her footsteps. As a popular member of the class, I know Daniella has had a significant impact on many, and I have no doubt she will continue to do so in the years ahead.” Helen Foley MBA Program Director DON’T MISS: MBAS TO WATCH: CLASS OF 2024
