What achievements are you most proud of in your professional career? I’m most proud of my resilience and commitment to work through challenges to create new strengths. I’m also proud of the relationships and mutual respect that I have fostered with my peers and senior leadership.

Why did you choose this school’s online MBA program? SMU Cox has an incredible reputation in the Dallas community and at large as an institution of quality and distinction. I was very enthused to be part of the student body and to expand those relationships beyond the classroom, both personally and professionally.

What was your favorite part of being in an online MBA program? I have enjoyed being in a cohort of colleagues who share the same value for education and relationship-building. Many of us are in similar phases in life and career. Although the curriculum was rigorous, I leveraged the strengths of my peers and vice versa for understanding. I found that we had so much in common and it made the learning experience so beneficial and fun!

How did your online experience compare with your in-the-classroom experience as an undergraduate student? The online experience required more independence in managing the asynchronous work prior to the in-class sessions. I found that the in-class sessions reiterated the material rather than taught the material. I adapted to the online experience, but did miss the casual and unplanned interactions with other students and the faculty.

How has your online education helped you in your current job? This online education has given me greater confidence to approach challenges with the analytical and relationship tools I’ve acquired from this program. The emphasis on class discussion has also motivated me to be more vocal to express my thoughts, opinions and concerns in the workplace. I also think differently about how to communicate strategy from the perspective of an implementable plan.

Did you earn a promotion while in the program or immediately after graduation? Yes, I received a promotion while in the program.

Why did you pursue an online MBA program instead of a full-time residential or executive MBA program? I needed an education medium that allowed for flexibility to join class from anywhere.

What is one way that your business school has integrated AI into your programming? What insights did you gain from using AI? I think the integration of AI is still a very new initiative in education. However, I’m positive that SMU Cox will continue to prepare its students for this new landscape. AI is certainly a powerful tool, and I think it should be used to enhance learning experiences in conjunction with students’ effort to engage with the material and conduct their own research for deeper understanding.

What is your ultimate long-term professional goal? My long-term professional goal is to be an avid solver of complex problems, to champion mentorship, growth and engagement for the people I lead, and to consistently communicate and demonstrate value to the organizations I serve.
