What makes Seattle such a great place to earn an MBA?

Seattle offers an exceptional environment for earning an MBA because it sits at the center of innovation-driven industries while maintaining a strong emphasis on purpose and impact. The proximity to global companies, startups, and thought leaders allows you to translate classroom learning into practical experience quickly. At the same time, the collaborative academic culture encourages you to build relationships, learn from peers, and develop leadership skills that extend beyond technical expertise. Also, it does not hurt that the city is remarkably beautiful and diverse, and that it offers an exceptional range of food options.

Aside from your location and classmates, what was the one key part of Washington Foster’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you?

The key part of Washington Foster’s MBA program that led me to choose the school was its strong emphasis on experiential, application-driven learning. Foster’s approach to teaching goes beyond theory and consistently challenges students to apply frameworks, data, and strategy to real-world business problems from the very beginning of the program.

This was especially important to me because of my diverse background across technology, analytics, and marketing, where I have seen how impactful learning happens when ideas are tested in practice. Through case competitions, integrated coursework across finance, accounting, marketing strategy, and corporate strategy, and hands on exposure to companies and leaders, Foster creates an environment where learning feels relevant and immediately transferable. I wanted an MBA experience that would sharpen my strategic thinking while also preparing me to operate confidently in ambiguous, high stakes situations, and Foster’s programming aligned perfectly with that goal.

What course, club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at Washington Foster?

The club I have enjoyed the most at Foster so far is the Global Business Association (GBA). What I love most about GBA is how it intentionally brings the entire Foster community together by celebrating cultures from around the world. Through events like Diwali, Halloween, and other cultural festivals, GBA creates spaces where students can share their traditions, learn from one another, and feel a sense of belonging regardless of where they come from.

For me, these events go beyond celebration. They reflect the values of inclusion, curiosity, and openness that define both Foster and my own leadership journey. Having grown up moving across cities and now studying on a different continent, I deeply value environments that help people connect across cultures. GBA has made Foster feel smaller, warmer, and more global, and that sense of community is what has made my experience here especially meaningful.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far:

My biggest professional accomplishment so far has been successfully pivoting my career from a technical and analytics background into a people-facing, strategy-driven marketing role, and delivering measurable impact in that transition. After starting my career in technology and analytics, I realized that my strengths lie in communication, relationship building, and strategic thinking. Making that shift required stepping outside my comfort zone and trusting myself enough to accept uncertainty.

In my marketing role, I managed influencer-driven brand campaigns across multiple industries, working closely with clients to translate business objectives into execution. I helped increase brand visibility and social reach through data-informed campaign strategies while also serving as a bridge between creative teams, influencers, and client stakeholders. What makes this accomplishment meaningful to me is not just the results, but the courage it took to realign my career with who I am and the leader I want to become.

Describe your biggest achievement in the MBA program so far:

My biggest achievement in the MBA program so far has been finishing as a runner-up in the Autumn Quarter case competition. The competition served as the culmination of our first quarter and challenged us to integrate everything we had learned across finance, accounting, marketing strategy, and corporate strategy into one cohesive recommendation. It pushed us to think holistically about business problems rather than approaching each subject in isolation.

Preparing for the case competition required intense collaboration, long working sessions, and constant iteration. My team spent time aligning financial analysis with a clear market strategy and a compelling overall narrative. Presenting our final recommendation to our entire cohort added another layer of challenge, requiring clarity, confidence, and strong team coordination.

What made this experience especially memorable was how much fun we had working together along the way. We built strong trust early, communicated openly, and genuinely enjoyed the process, even during late nights and tight deadlines. Finishing as runners-up felt rewarding not only because of the outcome, but also because it reflected a team that learned deeply, worked hard, and truly enjoyed collaborating.

What has been your best memory as an MBA so far?

One of my best memories as an MBA so far has been traveling to the San Francisco Bay Area on a company trek organized by Foster’s Career Management Team. The experience was designed to help us connect directly with industry leaders, and it exceeded my expectations. We had the opportunity to visit the campuses of major companies such as Google, Adobe, and Cisco, gaining firsthand insight into how these organizations operate and the kinds of roles MBA graduates can grow into.

What made the experience especially impactful was the depth of interaction. We learned about real projects these teams had worked on, how success was measured, and how strategy, technology, and leadership come together in practice. These conversations helped me better understand where my skills and interests align, while also building relationships with professionals whose insights and guidance I can continue to draw on.

Beyond the professional value, the experience was exhilarating on a personal level. Visiting California and exploring the Bay Area for the first time made the trek even more memorable. It was a perfect blend of learning, networking, and discovery, reinforcing why experiential opportunities like this are such a meaningful part of the MBA journey.
