What has been your favorite part of Houston so far? Why? One of my favorite parts of Houston has been the city’s culinary diversity and incredible food scene. Houston feels like a true crossroads of people, backgrounds and perspectives, all paired with genuine Southern hospitality. The energy of the city and the openness of the people have made it easy to feel at home quickly. Whether it is discovering new restaurants or meeting people from completely different walks of life, Houston has exceeded every expectation.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the one key part of the Rice Jones MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? As I transitioned out of active-duty military service (after 8.5 years), I was looking for an MBA program that combined academic rigor, strong industry exposure, and a community that genuinely supported veteran transitions. Every interaction I had with Rice faculty, staff, and students during the decision process reinforced that this program understood those needs.

What stood out most was how invested the Rice community is in its people. The faculty are accessible, the Career Development Office is deeply engaged and the culture values relationships and long-term success. That combination made Rice Business feel like the right place to grow both professionally and personally. And of course, there is a reason so many people love Texas!

What course, club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at Rice Jones? I have enjoyed being involved in several organizations at Rice Business, but a few stand out. The Rice Business Veterans Association has been an incredible source of support and camaraderie. It has made the transition from military service to the MBA environment far smoother than I expected.

I have also loved serving as a corporate ambassador for the Career Development Office. Engaging with corporate recruiters and helping represent Rice Business has been extremely rewarding, especially as I watch my classmates accept offers and advance in their careers. And of course, the Rice Business Beer Club deserves an honorable mention. It is truly world-class.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: One of my most meaningful career accomplishments in the Marine Corps was serving as a military social aide for approximately 18 months at the White House in Washington, DC. In that role, I supported presidential events, state dinners, ceremonies, and diplomatic functions involving senior government officials and foreign dignitaries.

The experience required absolute professionalism, discretion, and adaptability in high-visibility environments. It also reinforced the importance of trust, attention to detail, and relationship management under pressure — lessons that continue to shape how I lead today.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? My biggest accomplishment as an MBA student has been successfully recruiting into the private wealth management and private banking space. I recently accepted an offer to intern this summer at J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

The recruiting process was intense and required discipline, resilience and constant self-assessment. Coming from a non-traditional background, I am proud of the work it took to translate my military leadership experience into value for the private banking industry.

What has been your best memory as an MBA so far? One of my favorite memories so far has been tailgating with the Class of 2027 for the final Rice home football game. Seeing such a large group of classmates come together outside of the classroom captured what makes Rice Business special.

Before starting the MBA, I wondered how close our class would become. Moments like that tailgate confirmed that this is a community built on relationships, shared experiences and genuine support for one another. It was a simple but memorable reminder of how fortunate I am to be here. Rice Business is the place to be!
