Could there be a better combo?” Hometown: Bareilly, UP Fun Fact About Yourself: I am chronically the laziest person in the room, yet somehow arguably the fastest one on the sports field. It’s all about conserving energy for when it truly matters! Undergraduate School and Major: B.Tech (Mechanical), Dayalbagh Educational Institute Most Recent Employer and Job Title: Indian Army, Company Commander Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of IIM Bangalore’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? I was drawn to the sheer academic rigor and the promise of holistic, all-around development. The academic framework here isn’t just about surviving the core terms; it’s about customizing your journey with a massive array of over 100 electives. That level of flexibility allows you to truly pivot, explore niche interests, and build a curriculum that perfectly aligns with who you want to become post-MBA. It was important to me that my business school didn’t just teach management, but actively encouraged intellectual curiosity. What has been your favorite course or extracurricular activity at IIM Bangalore? What has been the most important lesson that you have learned from it? Without a doubt, it has been diving headfirst into sports – any kind, any time. IIM Bangalore boasts absolutely phenomenal sporting facilities, and you can usually find me blowing off steam on the courts or fields after a heavy day of case studies. Whether it’s an intense inter-section tournament or just a casual midnight match, the sports culture here is incredibly infectious. The biggest takeaway from all this sweat and competition? Masterful time management, for sure. Balancing rigorous academics with daily sports forces you to ruthlessly prioritize. Beyond that, it’s hands-down the best networking tool on campus. You forge the most authentic, unbreakable friendships when you’re bleeding, sweating, and fiercely competing alongside your peers. It strips away the formalities and leaves you with raw, genuine camaraderie. What makes Bengaluru such a great place to earn your MBA? You simply cannot beat being right in the pulsating heart of India’s startup and tech ecosystem. Bengaluru is the undisputed Silicon Valley of the East, which means you are constantly rubbing shoulders with founders, innovators, and industry disruptors right in your backyard. And let’s be entirely honest: the legendary, year-round breezy weather doesn’t hurt when you need a pleasant evening stroll to recover from a brutal finance quiz! Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: My greatest pride has been donning the Olive Green uniform and serving my nation in some of its most volatile and unforgiving terrains. That involves being entrusted with leadership during highly intense situations. From the rugged heights of Galwan and the active Pakistan border to navigating complex deployments in Manipur during ethnic clashes, I learned the true meaning of resilience, empathy, and grace under extreme pressure. If I had to pick a single cinematic moment, it would be firing rockets at 17,000 feet in the biting -30°C cold of Ladakh. Leading a team of highly motivated soldiers in a high-altitude, high-stakes environment goes beyond standard operational duty; it requires an unwavering spirit and a deep bond of trust. Surviving and executing missions in those extremes shaped the core of my leadership philosophy today. Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far: It has to be “PRANAM,” our flagship entrepreneurship project. Over two intense months, my team and I built a product from scratch that completely blew past my initial expectations. The wildest part of the journey was the sheer, almost real-time application of everything we were absorbing across half a dozen different subjects. We’d debate a framework in Competition & Strategy and literally apply it to our product the very next week. Whenever we hit a massive roadblock, we’d somehow find the solution by mashing up concepts from Microeconomics and Decision Sciences. It was like watching the entire academic curriculum come alive in fast-forward. While it’s strictly a wonderful product right now rather than a full-fledged business venture, we definitely have it tucked in the back of our minds to incubate it sometime in the future! What is your class’s favorite hangout away from school? Why do you gather there? Our go-to stressbuster revolves entirely around good food and proper “hydration.” Rather than sticking to one specific spot, our favorite hangout is the entirety of Bengaluru’s booming food and microbrewery scene. You simply can’t stay away from the city’s legendary brewing culture for too long. We gather at a new spot every other weekend, grab some phenomenal craft beers, put on a playlist or host a random jamming session, and just laugh about the sheer chaos of MBA life. What do you hope to do after graduation? In the short term, I want to dive into the corporate world and gain some formidable strategic experience. Having spent my entire career in the military, I am excited to apply my leadership skills to a completely different set of fast-paced, high-stakes business challenges. I want to build a track record of driving tangible growth and innovation from a boardroom rather than a border. Ultimately, the core mission hasn’t changed: I still want to serve and contribute to society, just on a different kind of battlefield. My goal is to lead purpose-driven, large-scale initiatives that create a lasting positive impact and drive meaningful, real-world change. And, of course, I plan to travel the world extensively – this time as an explorer with a backpack, rather than an officer with a tactical rucksack!” What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into IIM Bangalore? Authenticity is your biggest asset. Believe fiercely in yourself and the uniqueness of your past experiences, no matter how unconventional they might seem. The admissions committee isn’t looking for a cookie-cutter corporate clone; they want to see absolute clarity regarding who you are, what drives you, and what flavor you bring to the cohort. Stay confident, own your story through every single stage of the application, and don’t be afraid to show them the real you. © Copyright 2026 Poets&Quants. All rights reserved.
