Fun Fact About Yourself: A fun fact about me is that I did not learn how to swim until I was 24. After moving to Nigeria, I decided to learn this life skill and enrolled in swimming lessons. Within a few months, I went from not knowing how to swim at all to confidently getting in the water. I’m still amateur, but at least I am no longer as afraid of water.

Undergraduate School and Major: University of California, Berkeley, Business Administration

Most Recent Employer and Job Title: Investment Associate at CrossBoundary Advisory

Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of the Wharton School’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? One of the key aspects of Wharton’s MBA program that stood out to me was the strength of the Career Management Center and its commitment to supporting students throughout their career journeys, especially in today’s increasingly competitive job market. As someone looking to transition into a highly competitive industry, having a community and infrastructure that supports students through personalized coaching, industry preparation, and access to a strong alumni network was incredibly important to me.

I wanted to be part of a school that invests in its students beyond the classroom and helps them translate their ambitions into meaningful career outcomes.

What course, club, or activity excites you the most at the Wharton School? The Wharton Africa Business Forum is one of the activities I am most excited about because it aligns closely with my professional experiences and long-term interests. Throughout my career, I have focused on the intersection of finance and economic development across Africa, and I am excited about the opportunity to engage with a community that shares that passion.

I am particularly interested in exploring how the creative economy can play a larger role in conversations around Africa’s growth and investment opportunities. I would love to contribute to bringing greater visibility to this sector and exploring how the creative economy can be positioned as an important driver of Africa’s future.

When you think of the Wharton School, what is the first word that comes to mind? Why? Possibility.

Attending Wharton is an opportunity to grow, explore, and be intentional about the next chapter of my life. Pursuing an MBA is a significant investment, not only financially, but personally. I see this experience as an opportunity to step back, reflect, and think deeply about the type of leader I want to become and the impact I hope to create.

What excites me most about Wharton is the ability to immerse myself in a community of people, ideas, and opportunities that will challenge my perspective and expand my understanding of what is possible. I hope to use this season to explore thoughtfully, make intentional decisions, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

What makes Philadelphia a great place to earn an MBA? As someone who has always loved history, I am excited to be in a city that has played such an important role in shaping the United States while also being one of the country’s major metropolitan areas.

Beyond its rich history, I am especially excited about experiencing the energy of the city, especially with my favorite basketball player, LeBron James, coming to play for the Philadelphia 76ers. I hope to have the opportunity to attend a game and see him play in person during this exciting chapter for the city.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: One of my biggest accomplishments so far has been being part of the team that supported Nigeria’s successful bid to host the fifth Intra-African Trade Fair in 2027. The Intra-African Trade Fair is Africa’s premier trade and investment marketplace, organized by Afreximbank, the African Union Commission, and the AfCFTA Secretariat. It brings together businesses, investors, and governments to unlock opportunities across the continent. Previous editions have facilitated nearly $50 billion in trade and investment deals, highlighting the scale and impact of the platform.

Seeing this vision come to life has been incredibly rewarding, especially as Nigeria continues to position itself as a hub for business, innovation, and creativity. As part of this broader momentum, Nigeria will also host CANEX WKND 2026, a flagship creative economy event that brings together creatives, investors, and industry leaders across sectors such as film, music, fashion, and the arts.

I am proud to have played a role in bringing these opportunities to Nigeria and contributing to platforms that connect businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs while showcasing the incredible potential of the continent.

What is your biggest passion – and how has it helped you make an impact? My biggest passion is living with purpose and being intentional about using my skills, experiences, and opportunities to create impact beyond myself. While the specific form that takes may continue to evolve, I know I am most fulfilled when I am contributing to something larger than myself.

That desire has shaped the choices I have made throughout my life. These include co-founding my non-profit Aminat Venture Philanthropy, supporting women entrepreneurs in the African informal economy, and pursuing work focused on economic development and opportunity creation on the continent. Across these different experiences, I am driven by the desire to build things that matter and leave a meaningful impact.

What do you hope to do after graduation (at this point)? After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in investment banking, with a focus on consumer and retail investments.

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into the Wharton School’s MBA program? Be intentional about understanding your own story and how it connects to your goals. Focus less on presenting a perfect résumé and more on showing the experiences, values, and moments that shaped who you are. The strongest applications are authentic, demonstrate impact, and clearly communicate why an MBA, and specifically Wharton, is the next step in your journey.
