I have a wealth of experience in business school admissions and a global industry network. I have worked in higher education for almost 10 years, holding senior positions at two top universities in the UK. Most recently I was Director of Admissions at Imperial College Business School, and prior to that I was Head of MBA Recruitment and Admissions at Cambridge Judge Business School.
I’ve read countless applications, interviewed hundreds of candidates and chaired many Admissions Committee meetings. I know what makes a candidate stand out in the application process, and common mistakes to avoid.
I know how daunting it can feel to start your MBA journey, and I want to use my knowledge and experience to help you navigate the application process with confidence, empowering you to submit your best MBA application.
Empower Admissions Consulting was established in 2024 and offers consultancy services to applicants and schools. Amy Duckworth is the Founder and Principal Consultant. As a former business school admissions leader, Amy is well connected in the graduate management education sector and has extensive experience in MBA admissions.
I offer comprehensive packages to support candidates with their entire application to 1 or more MBA programmes. For candidates who are looking for guidance on specific aspects of their application(s), I offer hourly consultations. I also offer interview preparation sessions, consisting of a mock interview and post-interview debrief.
In addition to 121 services, I offer Admissions Bootcamps. These are 3-hour small group sessions online, covering key aspects of the MBA application process.

I worked with Amy on my applications to Cambridge and Oxford, and it made the whole process much more manageable. She gave clear, honest feedback and helped me structure my story without overcomplicating it. Her advice was always practical, so I knew what to improve and why. Overall, it led to a very positive outcome, and I felt much more confident throughout the process.
I met Amy at an MBA fair and she immediately stood out. She was incredibly easy to speak to and genuinely took the time to walk me through how the whole admissions process works. It never felt rushed or transactional. She was fully present and really invested in helping. What also gives her huge credibility is her background. Having been Head of Admissions at Cambridge Judge Business School and Director of Admissions at Imperial College Business School, she clearly knows exactly what schools are looking for and how decisions are made .
We did a practice interview together, and I will be honest, I was quite nervous during it. But in hindsight, that actually worked in my favour. Her feedback was very sharp and practical, and by the time it came to my actual interview, I felt calm, confident, and properly prepared. The difference was night and day.
I’m very happy to say that I received an offer from Cambridge, and I genuinely believe her guidance played a key role in that outcome.
Overall, I would highly recommend Amy to anyone serious about their MBA applications. She combines real insider knowledge with a very approachable and supportive style, which makes a huge difference.
I worked with Amy on my application to the Masters in Finance at London Business School. I received an offer from my first-choice programme.
Amy’s value isn’t just in knowing the process, though she knows it in detail. It’s in the way she asks the right questions early on, pushes back when something isn’t working, and keeps things moving without ever making you feel rushed or like a number. She has a genuine sense for what makes a candidate’s story land, and she’s patient enough to iterate until it does.
What I appreciated most was how consistent she was from start to finish, covering positioning, essays, interview preparation, and everything in between. She was there at every stage, relentless about quality. There was never a moment where I felt like I was figuring things out alone.
For anyone serious about their application journey, I’d recommend her without hesitation.
I practised my interview for Cambridge Judge MBA with Amy. I was kind of hesitant before pulling the trigger on this since it was decently expensive for my budget, but I am so glad I did. I genuinely felt super prepared for the interview after just 1h30 hours with her.
I can’t speak with regards to prep for other programs, but if you are interested in going to Judge and are nervous about your interview, I urge you to book a session with Amy!!
Amy was very helpful ahead of Kira assessments and final interviews, giving clear, calm and constructive feedback. She was great at helping me refine my career story. I really appreciated that she was willing accommodate over the weekend when an unexpected last minute scheduling change was suggested by the interviewer. My time with Amy really helped build confidence and contributed significantly to clearing the final hurdles and getting offered a place.
Amy quickly understood my unconventional background and helped me shape a compelling narrative that aligned with my goals. Her feedback on my essays was always sharp, honest, and constructive. She also offered great advice on navigating the more subtle parts of the process: school fit, interview prep, and also how to manage the entire process.
Thanks in no small part to Amy’s support, I was accepted into my first-choice MBA programme, something that felt like a long shot at the start. I can’t recommend her highly enough for anyone serious about putting their best foot forward.
Amy is simply fantastic, her support, dedication and knowledge throughout my MBA admissions process was incredible. I had two sessions a week with Amy and they were great, she helped me structure my essays polishing them from gravel to glittering diamonds
I had a fantastic experience working with Amy during my MBA application process. Her previous experience working for the business school was incredibly valuable – she had deep insights into what the admissions committee is really looking for and how to tailor my approach accordingly.
Most importantly, her help with interview preparation was exceptional. She provided highly personalised feedback, pointed out areas I could strengthen, and coached me through challenging questions with a lot of care and expertise. Thanks to her guidance, I felt confident and well-prepared on the day of my interview.
I genuinely believe my success in gaining admission was due in large part to her support. I would highly recommend Amy to anyone serious about putting their best foot forward in their MBA application journey.
I had an excellent experience with Amy while preparing for my EMBA interview! Her support was truly exceptional, and she brought a positive and uplifting energy throughout our time together. I reached out to Amy a week before my interview date, and she was incredibly supportive in managing the timeline and scheduling. I worked with her for two sessions. She provided clear guidelines and helped me practice through a mock interview, which gave me the confidence I needed to succeed.
