Consultant Bio

I love the mountains. I grew up in Bozeman, MT and now live in Salt Lake City, UT. I love the challenge of hiking up them and the thrill of skiing down them. I also love a metaphorical mountain, be it making a career pivot or getting into graduate school. Hence the name Peak MBA Admissions. The MBA admissions process is long and arduous, but with the right strategy and the right sherpa (err, partner) it can also be extremely rewarding.

I provide my clients with the insider expertise, tough love, and encouragement they need to refine their career goals, craft their personal brand, and gain admission to their dream schools. Beyond that, I help my clients understand their values, strengths, and motivations better, which provides a strong foundation for professional and personal success both during and after business school.

Over the past decade I have coached hundreds of aspiring MBA candidates who have been admitted to Stanford, Wharton, Kellogg, Booth, Sloan, Columbia, Tuck, Haas, Darden, LBS, Oxford, and many more. My clients have received over $1.5M in scholarships. I have extensive experience helping clients with low GPAs, below median test scores, unemployment, etc., and I can personally empathise with some of these challenges. Additionally, I have specialized knowledge of top part-time programs, including Haas, Booth, and Kellogg.

A bit more about me personally – I’m a Princeton undergrad and Berkeley Haas MBA who is passionate about marketing, writing, and mentoring. I have long been involved with both admissions and coaching, having served as a student VP of admissions and new student orientation at Haas, a college admissions mentor for financially disadvantaged youth in San Francisco, a long-time Princeton alumni interviewer, and a current career and leadership mentor for college women in Utah.

My professional experience spans multiple industries and functions, which gives me a breadth of knowledge to draw on. I’ve spent the majority of my career in product marketing and product management roles at major investment firms (BlackRock & Franklin Templeton), however I have also worked on a major political campaign, consulted to Silicon Valley tech startups, and worked in investor relations at a small-cap biotech company. As a pet project, I published an Amazon bestselling book in 2020. Unsurprisingly, I thrive on variety and enjoy working with applicants from numerous different backgrounds. I also happen to think that non-linear career paths are some of the most interesting, and I excel at helping non-traditional candidates connect the dots in their personal narratives. Above all, I absolutely love engaging with talented individuals and showing them how to present the best version of themselves to admissions committees through authentic and engaging storytelling.

Company Information

I started professional MBA admissions consulting in 2017, working with one of the largest firms in the business on a part-time basis. I left my corporate job in 2025 and launched Peak MBA Admissions to focus on admissions coaching full-time and provide my clients with deep admissions expertise, customized strategy, and impeccable service. I was named a Top 50 Coach on the Leland platform in 2024 across all coaching verticals.

  • Emily made my HBS dream come true!
As a non-traditional candidate from biomedical research, I was initially told by another consultant that my target programs were out of reach. After reviewing my profile, Emily jumped in and worked with me diligently. She carefully explored my experiences to tease out high-value stories, including those I had not paid much attention to, to craft a compelling application. Emily was both supportive and strategic and paid the utmost attention to every detail. She emphasized the importance of authenticity, which not only led to a very satisfying application but also contributed to my long-term personal growth. Thanks to Emily’s help in putting my best foot forward, I was admitted to HBS. I couldn't have reached this goal without her!

  • Emily Is THE Greatest!!!
Working with Emily was one of the best choices I made during the MBA application process. From the very beginning, she was an active listener, taking the time to hear my life experiences, accomplishments and ideas. She helped me pull everything together into a clear, cohesive story that actually felt like me. She really helped me find my "why", which has helped me beyond the application process in identifying my future career goals. She supported me through every part of the process, from brainstorming essays, editing my resume, reviewing applications, and even encouraging me to retake the GRE when I was totally over it. I'm so glad I listened to her. I ended up getting into every school I applied to, with scholarships from all ...

  • Incredibly Strategic & Supportive!! The Key To Success Is Emily
    11 months ago
She went above and beyond helping me translate my unique, unconventional professional experience into a competitive application. While working together, I was deployed with the military, in a completely different time zone and had an unpredictable schedule. In addition to this, leaving the military and pursuing graduate school can be a daunting and emotional journey. Emily’s strategic, deliberate, and informed approach greatly helped me manage the stressfulness of the process. Her storytelling will help capture the best of your experiences. The essay revisions and interview prep can be tough, but obviously that’s why you want her. She not only helped me navigate my application but also the greater journey of rediscovering my “why”. I feel so much more aligned with my sense of self after ...

  • Emily Is The BEST
Emily is so much more than an MBA Admissions Consultant. She's a mentor, friend, and on many occasions...a therapist. Working with Emily has not only made the process of applying to business school easier, but she has helped me craft a narrative that is true to who I am, which will pay dividends even after obtaining a graduate degree. Emily is thoughtful and diligent in her approach, and I couldn't recommend her enough for anyone applying to business school.

  • Emily Is The Best! Absolutely Worth It!
I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to find Emily to work with during my MBA admissions process and wouldn’t have been able to put together the same quality of application without her. She really put in the effort to get to know me and understand the specifics of my story, application components, and motivations. While she helped immensely in the crafting of my story and application narrative, what stuck out to me was how much she truly coached me to improve my own storytelling and writing. She helped me to improve my narrative and pushed me to think more critically about my goals and what I want to do during my time at business school and after. Unlike other coaches and counselors I’ve ...

  • Thank You, Emily!
Just when I thought my MBA journey had come to an end, Emily stepped in and completely changed the game. With a lower than average undergraduate GPA and test scores, I wasn’t sure how much hope I had left—especially after landing on the waitlist at Haas. But Emily quickly reviewed my full application, refined my essays, and helped me craft a clear, personalized, and effective waitlist strategy that ultimately got me admitted. What impressed me most was her sharp eye for storytelling and her ability to highlight the most compelling aspects of my background, even the parts I once saw as weaknesses. She was honest, responsive, and highly strategic, helping me focus on exactly what would move the needle. I can confidently say I wouldn’t be ...

  • Grateful For Emily x 10000000
I've had an amazing experience working with Emily on 5 schools (some comprehensive and some hourly). I went back and forth on whether to hire an admissions consultant and talked to 9 consultants before finding Emily. She is so incredibly supportive, encouraging, and helpful. I work well in teams (Emily helped me discover that about myself!) and I loved brainstorming ideas with Emily and sharing my application process successes and challenges with her. The application process would have been a lot more stressful and a lot less fun without Emily's guidance. I recommend her wholeheartedly!

  • Emily Is All-Time. I Couldn't Have Done It Without Her Guidance!
I had expectations about what the application process would be, they were almost entirely wrong. For the first time since high school, I was forced into a position to ask myself what I want. Where do I want to be? What do I want to do? Without Emily I would have cobbled together a superficial narrative that fell apart at first contact. She pushed me much further than ever would have been possible on my own. Even absent the more abstract portions of the application, her advice on the more technical components (like the resume and supplemental info) brought all the disparate pieces together into an articulation of myself that I felt proud to submit. She made the process much more efficient, much less stressful, ...

  • Emily Got Me Through A Long Waitlist Process & Helped Me Get Into My Dream School!
I had a longer application process that included getting waitlisted and Emily was so encouraging and supportive throughout it. She was incredibly organized and gave clear feedback during the essay writing process. Her timeline was very approachable and allowed me to put my best foot forward during this competitive process. I would highly recommend Emily to everyone because she truly goes above and beyond for her clients!!!!

  • 100% Worth Every Penny!
Emily was a fantastic coach, and I don't know how I could have made it through my applications without her. She was supportive, knowledgable, and strategic in approaching the applications. She gave me a realistic timeline to follow and kept the entire process relatively stress free :)

  • Wise, Honest, & Strategic Storyteller & Supporter!
Emily was highly recommended from a few friends who worked with her in previous years, and I totally understand why. She spent time understanding my full story and gave me honest and insightful feedback on what parts of my story I should highlight for AdComs. I found her previous experience and relationships invaluable as I customized my applications to multiple top tier schools. She has been not only a strategic resource, but also a supportive friend throughout this (at times) frustrating application process. I was extremely satisfied with all of my applications and I could not imagine achieving the level of polish and authenticity I did without her guidance.

  • Working With Emily Felt Like A True Partnership
    1 year ago
Emily’s approach, organization, responsiveness, humor, and constructive feedback really helped me put together a compelling application while making the daunting task of applying much more approachable. Having her push me to be more specific about my career objectives and MBA goals in my essays also helped me figure out the type of program for me. Ultimately, I was accepted to the 3 programs that I applied to with 2 partial scholarships.
