A new piece of laboratory equipment was purchased for my department, and I was asked to develop a protocol for it. This protocol was then utilized by the entire department, which included students, technicians, post-doctorates, professors and many others. For this instrument, I also became the main instructor on how to use it.
The potential to make a significant amount of money within research is criminally low. For this reason, I find it imperative that I pursue a career in which I will be able to reach my financial goals. I would still like to remain in biotechnology, but more so within the business side of the sector.
