Mr. International African

About Me:

Strong international experience with studies and work experiences in Europe, North America, and Africa. I have a sound understanding of African politics and economics, and have been publishing articles in the french-speaking most famous political magazine. Professionally, I would define myself as an all-around consultant with strong international outreach and experiences ranging from financial advisory to public policy analysis.

Work History:

Title: Analyst - Financial Advisory & Project Finance

Industry: Government / Military

Company: African country government's in-house consulting firm

Length of Employment: 2 yrs

Title: Audit Associate

Industry: Banking & Finance

Company: Top Firm

Length of Employment: 2 yrs

Big Life Wins:

My major win in work so far has been to join the government in-house consulting firm I am currently working at. I remember that upon graduation I was dreaming about joining this institution, but had no clue about how to do it because of the extremely selective recruitment process and the scarce opportunities in the financial advisory department. After some experience at a Big 4 firm, I met with, and impressed the HR Manager at a business event and convinced him to add me to the recruitment pool. From that point on, I was able to land my dream a couple of months later.

Post MBA Goal:

Ideally, after the MBA I would like to join consulting firms with a focus on international development such as Dalberg. Alternatively, I world consider jobs in strategy consulting both in Africa and North America.

Target School: Duke Fuqua

Status: Open

Considering: Cornell Johnson, Kellogg

    Hi Mr. International African,
Thanks for posting your profile. This is Debbie Choy, Senior Consultant at mbaMission. I’m impressed by your international background and work experience in N. America, Europe, and Africa. In my 8 years working with candidates, I don’t see many with the diverse experiences that you have. In your application, be sure to highlight how you can contribute your unique perspectives to the classroom, as well as describe how your past has shaped your leadership style and world view. Importantly, if you can connect the dots for the Admissions Committee to describe how your past and present experiences – combined with an MBA – can help you achieve your future goals, I think you will have strong chances at Fuqua. Finally, one thing …
