My passion is connecting emerging technologies to the needs of society/ companies/ individuals. The ideal placement would be in a hard-tech start-up (think Fusion energy, CO2 capturing tech, Water desalination, Agri-tech, etc.) – working on commercialisation of emerging technologies.

Hi, it’s Nisha from mbaMission. There is a LOT to like about your profile – so cool that you’ve worked at NASA and in consulting, and business schools will love that combination. What the schools will be even more interested in is the impact you’ve made in each of your organizations, so make sure to communicate this clearly on your resume and in your applications. I really admire the passion behind your post-MBA goals, and I think they’ll resonate with the admissions committee – be sure to mention a couple target companies that have relationships with each of these schools.

I think you are a competitive candidate for INSEAD, but to increase your odds for HBS/GSB/Wharton, I recommend retaking the GMAT to boost your score to get more in line with their averages, even given your strong academic background. Also, be sure to highlight in your application not only your professional strengths, but also your values and personal passions. Hope that helps a bit!
Mr NASA, it’s Lisa Cummings of Stratus Admissions. Your work and academic history will be very interesting to admissions committees and your post MBA goal sounds reasonable. What is the driver in connecting technology with people- I’d like to know more. Your extracurriculars focus on things you like to do, are you involved in any groups or communities outside of work? If so, what is the connection? With your experience and stats, you should have odds that are above INSEAD’s averages but I would estimate your chances at Stanford, HBS, GSB and Wharton to be considerably lower
