Hi, it’s Nisha from mbaMission. It’s not every day I get to read the profile of a professional-level musician! I love how the cello – and community service – have been consistent in your life.
I think your early career progression and being a legacy at Cornell will be beneficial to your chances of admission. However, here are my concerns: your GMAT score (I know it’s within the 80% range for Johnson, but it’s safer to be at/above the average, especially if you are early in your career) and your limited work experience – I would need to have more information about the impact you’ve made in this time and the quality of recommendation that you can expect in order to better …

Also, you’ll want to communicate to Johnson (and any other program) your motivations behind your post-MBA goals – why IB? Overall, I’d consider waiting another year so that you can achieve more at work and maximize your GMAT score if you still think there is room for improvement. Hope that helps!
Go Big Red Mr SAP SD Analyst! It’s Lisa Cummings of Stratus Admissions and a Johnson School alum (and ski racer) myself. That’s quite an eclectic background you have- virtuoso, speed demon, business frat and small house builder, wow! Which of these passions do you continue to pursue and are there any common threads? Your status as a legacy might help you at Cornell- your GPA is a little above their average but your GMAT , while in the range, is slightly below average. Do you think that is your top score or might you be able to bump it up a few more points, perhaps with some additional study, a class or tutoring? I’d need to know a litte bit more about your …

Do you think that is your top score or might you be able to bump it up a few more points, perhaps with some additional study, a class or tutoring? I’d need to know a litte bit more about your work experience and responsibilities. At 2 years of work experience you fall below the 5 year average at most schools so to stand out you will have to show big professional wins and impact. Are you set on applying for the class of ’23 or might you be able to get another year or even two under your belt? Tha might allow you to show more professional impact even though you have already earned a promotion at your firm. I am placing your odds at 20% but with more information – or more experience, that could increase. Good luck!
