I love technology and I want to use it to make an impact. I am also the technology officer at a travel services startup I started with my friends.

Hi Mr. Technopreneur! This is Kate Richardson, Senior Admissions Consultant. You obviously have strong analytical/technical skills and initiative, as evidenced by your entrepreneurial projects. It also sounds like you have varied interests/passions in both athletic and creative pursuits, which is great, though I’d love to see if you could turn up the dial on leadership in those activities. That brings me to the other challenge in your profile in terms of a lower amount of work experience. If those are internships and you’re applying to the deferred option, that is a slightly different story, but if you’re looking at the full-time traditional option, I think that is going to be a tough sell for Stanford, where the competition is already extremely tough. Your GPA also gives me some pause for a top school like Stanford, though the high GRE does mitigate that to some extent. I would also encourage you to do some more thinking on your post MBA goals — schools want a very specific and realistic path so they have confidence you can achieve that goal upon graduating. Best of luck!
Hi Mr. Technopreneur, this is Donna Bauman with Stratus Admissions counseling and I am happy to review your profile. I can’t tell fully if you are just graduating or if you have already graduated and are just starting to work. If you are still in college you may be a good candidate for the deferred admit program at GSB or HBS or Wharton or some of the other programs on your list. If you are just starting with your career, having just the 7months of work experience will make it challenging for these top programs. Your GRE is strong so that is a plus but it will help to have a bit more work experience for most of the programs on your list unless you …

When applying to GSB be sure you spend some quality time thinking about what matters most—maybe using technology for good—based on what you have written here! I am eager to hear your response to this question! Don’t be put off by the 5% odds for GSB– that’s about what they are for everyone! Your odds for deferred admit programs would be higher if you are still able to look at those options!
