As recently promoted CEO, I turned around and saved from bankruptcy a PE-backed advisory firm, selling it to leading consultancy in the region – the deal I structured and led from the PE side. Upon closing the transaction, I was seconded to the acquirer to lead the integration, which was successfully finalized right before COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Immediate goal: join IB or PE firm in U.S. to gain practical knowledge of an established institution. Long-term goal: launch own PE firm to fill in capital availability gaps in emerging markets. I believe that an MBA will enhance my skills and widen global network required for a hefty boost of my entrepreneurial and investor ambitions.

Hi, it’s Nisha from mbaMission. It sounds like you’ve made excellent impact in the PE and M&A consulting space, and your goals of joining an IB or PE firm post-MBA are realistic. I also like that you’re so meaningfully involved in the community – Kellogg and INSEAD will greatly value this part of your profile. Additionally, there aren’t a ton of applicants from Eastern Europe, which could work in your favor as well. I think it’s wise to take advantage of Kellogg’s GMAT waiver (especially since you have a strong GPA and plenty of quant experience) and apply as early as you can while the application is still open, as long as you’re able to put together a thoughtful application and secure …

Hi Mr. Emerging Market Investor, this is Donna Bauman, Senior MBA Admissions counselor with Stratus Admissions weighing in on your profile. You have a very impressive background and this could be a great time to take advantage of Kellogg’s R3 GMAT Waiver. With Kellogg’s new dean Francesca Cornelli’s PE background from LBS, this could also be a great time to look at Kellogg. Look at the VC/PE pathway to get a sense of some of the experiential learning that can help you. It sounds to me like your experience leading the integration of your most recent transaction and getting that done just before Covid hit could be the makings of a great essay on leadership for your application. I’m glad you addressed why you want …

I’m glad you addressed why you want an MBA—as it is not fully clear you need one—but do address this in your essays and think about the resources at Kellogg that will help you fill those gaps. I am impressed with your background and as Kellogg alum myself I would be glad to have you in the family! Reach out if you want to have a further conversation about how to approach the essays.
