I have 5 years of work experience as an associate software engineer, software analyst, and senior software engineer. While at a Fortune Global 300, I worked with some big international clients but didn’t relocate geographically.
I have been a mental health advocate at my company, and for the past 2 years have been mentoring two international non-profits. I was on an executive committee in college in leadership positions. I am also trained in Indian dance and music.
Additional courses: Currently I am taking an AWIP/AWIT Product Management course and might also take MBAMath.
My dream schools are Harvard, Wharton, Haas, Tuck, Yale, and CBS and my target schools are Duke, NYU, UCLA, USC, and Cornell. Should I apply to some other schools? What are my chances at the schools I’m applying to? Should I also look at a MEM course as a backup?

Hi Ms. All Rounder Engineer! I like your unique platform around mental wellness and you have the past experiences to back that this has been a long-rooted authentic passion area for you for a while. My watch-out for you is around clearly articulating your goals in a way that ensures it’s clear how an MBA will help you get there. If you have an idea for a specific venture, I’d suggest sharing that. Specificity in your ST and LT goal give AdCom the confidence that you will arrive on campus with a plan and engage intentionally in the activities that will land you a job upon graduation.

While your attendance at a Tier 3 college doesnt work in your favor, if you have a reason for that choice over Tier 1 or 2 programs, be sure to state that. That said, your 330 GRE shows that you’ve got the chops to run with the best of ’em anyway!
You are clearly very committed to your own development and that of others (Mental Health advocate, LGBTQ ally, mentoring women). MBA Math feels a bit more like a nice to have than a need to have given your 167 Quant score.
As for school choice, if you are all in on attending business school next year, I would recommend adding 1-2 safety schools in there (those between 20-25+ rankings), especially if you are applying R2, as history would suggest that the economic state will lead to increased MBA apps in R2. Given the culture and focus for those you have chosen, I might recommend you take a look at schools like Emory, Vanderbilt or Notre Dame. Having at least 1 safety school in there is key for anyone who has their heart set on not finding themselves as a reapplicant the following year. I have good feelings for you though Ms. All Rounder!
